Pretty sure they have said that ambient enviroments will affect heat. So, snow maps and desert maps will affect heat build up differently... Which is very cool, by the way.

Welp... guess I'm not getting a Catapult for my founder's mech then...

Here is the way i see it. The game is in beta, and even once it's out of beta it's new and fresh. That means there are goign to be issues. Now you could go with "omg this sucks, so avoiding it" with something, a mech perhaps, and just ignoring it. Or you could have faith in the company and believe that if the mech does turn out to be subpar that they will change it.

So what it really boils down to isn't how underpowered the mech is, but weither you have faith in the companies long lasting support for their game.

Of course it could also be just that you want a mech that dosn't require playing in a role and you just want to pew pew toe to toe with a target. If that's the case then i think you are going to find a LOT of mechs wont be up to your standards of "good"

I never said it wasn't good... just from the feedback given, I am less likely to choose it. The concept of running a support mech that will run out of ammo before finishing off a single target is what turns me off. I assumed the mech would have a harder hit, but would have a long reload to balance that out, or something along those lines. The game play balance from the support mech would be that if you are dumb enough to stand in the open and let me hit you with multiple salvos without either closing in or finding cover, then I can support my allies by ripping you apart. If I'm picking a chassis centered on one weapon, that weapon better kill something before it runs out of ammo. Something that can unload all its ammo into a target and not get a kill is not something I want to play, support or otherwise.

And this is why we don't like people talking about Beta. *glares at AceTimerwolf*

The Catapult and LRMs depend on the pilot. I've seen 2 stock C1's take out the other team's Atlases from a LONG way out and then just hammer the rest of the opposing team softening them all up. The rest of our team just steamrolled the opponents after that. LRMs currently inflict a large amount of damage. If you see them coming toward you, you should be scared. <- As intended.

Take it easy on'm... Good intentions and all...

Actually I though his personal assessment was pretty fair all-in-all minus my personal pet-peeve of translating personal opinion into hard data. :o

Thanks for clearing our doubts. Guess the LRMs have the punch they should have then. Still, having the fan base (Prolly player base) without info make us to speculate with every little bit of info we can ever get our dirty hands on.

Do you have any candy info for us, Paul ?? do you ? *wink* *wink*

I have been lurking on the forums since Nov 2011 until this last days when topics start to get really "intense". So don't look up to my low forum post numbers :o

Well we're mostly just trying to work with what information we have. The LRM debate has been going on for a while ever since we saw the Catapult in the released video doing practically nothing to a Jenner after four volleys.

Well I am all for balance, because if say LRMs are weak and PPC's or Large Lasers are very good. Guess what. Everyone brings Large Lasers or PPC's and the tactical dimensions of MWO shrink drastically.

Thanks again for the info.

Thanks Ace!

Personally I think there is far too much speculation getting thrown around here. Most comments are not necessary, and won't make a bit of difference until the game is playable.

I don't think the Devs are out to cheat us, so why worry about it? If it doesn't work, they will fix or buff it. If it works too good, they will nerf it.

Anything else is just a waste of typing.

Thanks for confirming what I had hoped light mechs would be. Also people disheartened by LRM support for the Cats out there remember there are ppc's out there that can be mounted too(or other weapons possibly). The Catapult through mech lab can be salvaged if the lrms are too soft for you by launch day. Perhaps also that lrms are more effective towards larger mechs. Which means that lighter mechs roles might have gain a new dimension. Which would be hunting down the larger support mechs so the big 100 ton brawler can decimate enemies more effectively.

Deep breaths, Paul! Remember that heated, emotional discussions are just a symptom of high interest in your product. This is a good thing!

1) Because campy weapons bring game pacing to a standstill.

2) "nobody likes a game where a guy half the map away is behind a hillside, waiting for a reticule to turn red, and pushing one button to win."

3) That they won wasn't the point. That it takes like 10 LRM salvos each to destroy them is.

I thought that is why this game requires tactics to play? I know this is a reason why I WANT to play a light mech...

Why are you mostly negative about this game? Most of your posts are so down? You seem to know alot about MWO, a game you have never played... :o

Don't get me wrong. AceTimberwolf has not broken an NDA and is more than welcome to comment. I just don't like having to firefight the speculation that simple comments can generate. You guys have all put me to task over the simplest comments. :o

Paul, you're almost better off just not firefighting. The reactionaries will just find new things to react to. (for example, now people will freak out that LRMs are too strong based on what you said, instead of too weak based on what AceTimberwolf said)

There are enough reasonable folks on this forum (I can name a few off the top of my head that come to mind) that will handle that for you. Trust your community. :o
