24 Million For An Omni?

The Inner Sphere 'mechs on MWO are close to their c-bill prices on Battletech wiki. Can we expect 'Mechs like the Timberwolf to cost over 24,000,000 c-bills?

If so, do you guys think it will affect the mechwarrior-credit cost for hero omnimechs?

The clanmechs should be that expensive yes.

Currently, mech MC costs are roughly 400 MC per 1,000,000 C-Bills, or 1 MC per 2,500 C-Bills. A Timberwolf Prime would therefore cost approximately 9693 MC. With the largest MC package possible of $100, you get roughly 250 MC per USD. All in all, that makes a Timberwolf Prime cost roughly $38.75. Note that this is probably too low because small MC packages have a reduced MC:USD ratio.

For funzies, a Dire Wolf Prime would cost 11740 MC, or $46.96 (assuming we use the maximum size MC package for the conversion ratio).


That's a lot of moolah...

Absurd is what that level of pricing would be.

It will all depend on whether they want the Clans to be the whale's domain or whether they want to make that content reasonably available to the average player who is just as passionate about the Clan mechs but can't afford to buy them with MC or grind them at a reasonable rate within their available play time of just a few hours per week, even with premium time.

Maybe they will have a set of clan trial mechs for players to check out when they are added to the game. If someone can find a mech or mechs that they do well in and play with people on TS3 or C3 then the chances of earning 24 million c-bills in a timely manner become relatively easy.

I currently have enough C-Bills to buy 2 clan omni-mechs so I'll be choosing very carefully.

Chances are, the Clans will abide by their own currency or method, partially independent of IS currency. Last I heard, Clan tech is only so expensive because those are the conversion ratios to IS levels or such. PGI aren't fools, Clans are going to be a big, and mainstream part of the game come release. Granted I may be wrong and they will be milked, as with many future mech designs. Small example, look at my favorite mech of all time: The Bushwacker. Sarna lists its price at 9 mil C-Bills. That's more than an Atlas! However the thing does have FF armor and an XL engine. But even with those features, I'm not really sure if it will be THAT expensive if translated for the game. So don't go making assumptions Clan-Tech will cost that high of a premium/game time relationship given the current c-bill rate.

You can`t really use those prices per se (Clan c-bill prices from TRO´s and Sarna among other sources), as those are black market prices (which by design are inflated), Clans don`t sell mechs.

I`m interested to see how it will be done, but I don`t think 30million for a Dire Wolf or 20 million for a Timber Wolf is going to be the way. Still collecting c-bills just in case, though :P

The Dire Wolf Prime with that price would still be cheaper than buying a Löwe in World of Tanks so i think they will use that kind of prices yes.

That would be indeed the price for such a Clan Omnimech.

Players will have the choice, grind your *** off, or take the easy road and pay some MC, and play immediately with your lovely Timberwolf,

Actually more like 4,5 million, a Kerensky is usually valued at 5 cbills when they can be found. :P

I was under the impression they are worth 1.5 Cbills in there current state.

Yeah crazy stuff. But if PGI keeps makin money, we keep gettin to play mech, and that is a good thing. Still, even with the current sales I haven't been able to bring myself to buy a hero mech for what they are asking.

No, because there is letarally zero way a mercenary, house warrior or god forbid a lonewolf could get access to even their secondline mechs, let alone omnies.

Either you are born a Clansman, or taken as a bondsman... those are the only options to pilot them.

Good luck getting people to buy three of a chassis in order to master them, then.

No, they really can't make them that much more expensive than the IS chassis, for two reasons: if they're balanced against IS mechs, which they'll have to be, they aren't really worth much more since the only significant difference or incentive is merely their looks. And because the IS mechs may actually have to be discounted or put on permanent sale in order to keep them selling once Clan mechs are available and the new hotness.

Yes, only clan players should get acess to clan mechs, and lose them if they leave the clans. Otherwise nobody would use IS mechs.

With an XL engine? 9mil sounds about right then.
