the DD (which alot of people think is crap) is the most unique, if ballistics werent already so weight/ammo/heat restrictive they would have some of the most amazing ballistic builds possible. Saddly there isnt really any truely unique builds that dont horribly gimp you or limit you in some way

I target them first and enjoy killing the rat-a-tat-tat versions the most.
AC/40 cheesebuilds are OP and I would be embarrassed to be seen in one.
End of opinion.

Some might call them cheese builds, but Dual AC/20 and Dual Gauss can be a lot of fun. (And IMO, they aren't cheese. a 40 damage alpha at 270m range seems quite reasonable and balanced, compared to the Splatapults old 90 damage alpha at 120m range or a Triple PPC + Gaus Highlander build'S 45 damage alpha at 540m range).
With the current state of missiles, it's a bit sad that the missile-based variant (whatever it's letter is) is so poor. Tat said, I'd probably only use it for SRMs, because I just don't enjoy LRMs.

Ive never been one for trying to get maximum damage in a match, I much rather help my team kill the enemy.
I play the role of harasser and distractor. Chain firing the AC/2's constantly at snipers is just plain hilarious. they never seem to know what to do.

Dual AC20 and dual Gauss builds I never used and I don't plan to. But it's fun running around with 2 AC10 or 4 AC2 too.
They are not that great for builds wit energy main weapons in my opinion, becuase you lose the big advantage of the chasis.
That the arms (and main weapons) are at the same heigh as your cockpit. That means you can shoot at anything you see without worrying about hitting the ground in front of you and can keep most of your mech behind cover.
Most viable loadouts require you to run a XL though and maybe Endo Steel. But it's not that big of a problem if you play the mech like it's emant to be. As a fire support mech and not as a brawler.

Fun times for light mechs when they come from behind and try to bite some ankles.
Though a 1on1 with heavies and assaults tear me apart mostly.
Im a supporter, I shoot em down so my bros can finish em vice versa.
I dont even have medium lasers, so yeah, if ammo's gone im as well.
Im balacning myself you see? Mechwarriors a teamgame for me, so if my bros suck i deserve to suck as well.

I do Agree. Besides the lights that I don't play, I own any chassis available from Cicadas to Atlases in single/dual or 3x variants. I've tried the Jager, but it has soon disappeared from my hangar. Why?
To properly employ multiple ballistics you need to go around with XL engines (or absolutely small STDs so you're slow as a turtle!), plenty of ammo everywhere and low armor values; by this the thing is very weak because the side torsoes aren't as difficult to hit as those of a Catapult. And that spoiler that it's all a nice CT hitbox is really fun to hit when they pop up from cover.
Dual Gauss or dual AC 20 Jagers.. a K2 has GR's well protected in the side torsoes, and you can strip away all the armor from the arms to gain that weight that allow to either place bigger engines or more ammo. You can't strip armor from the arms of the jagers. Only dual AC20 are interesting, but they are either fast and weak with XLs or slow/slower than AC40 k2s.
The only truly interesting Jager is the JM6-A, it's possible to do things that other laser+missile Catapults can't, but that variant alone and the general layout of the chassis didn't impressed me at all to make me master D and DD variants.. only to keep the A. Wasted time. Jagers shared the same fate that the CTF 4X did for me. No room for them.

Use them properly and play to thier strengths. ac5s (reg or ultra) or ac2s, keep your distance, just barely crest hills and play smart and they excell.
If you buy the A and think, I'll strap 2 large lazahs a std300 and some srm6 up in there charge in and be like whattup? Prepare to be disappointed. The other team will look at you, one of yor LLs will fall off and take its sides arms with it and you'll shlep around with raven 4x firepower for the rest of the match.

The DD is the dakka lulz build with 5-6AC2 or 6MG/ER-PPC (lets wait for the mg buff here), but there're some interesting asymetrical builds (3xAC2/1xAC10 or LBX) that can be played with success, but these are very uncommon.
The -S variant is THE JagerMech, most flexible chassis i would say. Nice as energy-heavy build with ballistics-support, but that's unused potential.
The -A variant is my problem jager, i just can't find a build i'm fine with, i think after mastering this is the one i'll play least. LRMs won't fit with good ACs, and 4 streaks with ultras don't seem to be a good combo (for me).
Biggest quirk ist survivability, XL or not, if you loose a side torso you're pretty much screwed so play hide and cover and try to stay behind an awesome or atlas.
