A real classic and a real gunboat! I always loved the Stalker as a tabletop player even if it had heat issues. It was a mech that had a weapon for every situation and the armour to take a pounding. Lovely to see her included in the game!

Very nice job on the remodel and bringing this old beast up to speed. It fills a gap that the other assaults are missing, and has a dynamically different aesthetic. That said, the Stalker is one of my least favorite designs and I for one will not be playing it, but it'll be nice to have a few around for point defense and the pure intimidation factor.

The "Battle Egg" as we used to call it :P Still have fond memories of this thing, also of the computer iterations - iirc it was in MW2:Mercs where you were first allowed to pilot one of these.

From walking potato to something I can see myself piloting...
The center of gravity now actualy makes sense...
I can even see where the cockpit is!
Superb art direction, Piranah Games.

I would rather pilot a Warhammer. Twin PPCs, dual mgs, 2 medium lasers, dual small lasers, and to top it all off an SRM-6 launcher. now that would rain on an Atlas's parade, indefinitely.

By the way, a Warhammer could serve an Atlas any day.

On the topic-o-reverse joints to those who miss the classic leg config, i shall explain myself.

i went with them for several reasons

1. i like reverse joints,
2. The original art and minis never really clarified which way the knees bent. Seemingly implying that they bent in both directions for a cartoonish wobbly walk.
3. People seemed to really like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Stalker fanart and mektek takes on the design, which featured reverse joints.
4. a humanoid or wobbly gait animating under something like looks like well, a number of certain things that you wouldn't mention in polite conversation would probably look more funny than intimidating.
5. Instead of a fatapult, with normal joints you'd end up with a fatjenner, and i find the former more appropriate than the latter for an assault mech

2. there are some:

for example.

But don't get me wrong, i like the variant you did. With the "chicken" legs it seems more balanced and you cut the nose. The orginal design with the forward-bend-knees and the veeeery long nose was just off-balance, if you know what i mean.
Sorry if i don't use the right words, it's not easy to express my picture of my thoughts when not in my native language. In fact, it's not easy even when i'm in my native language.

I never liked the looks of Stalker, but this version sure looks good to me. Great work.

My favorite feature is the luggage / ski rack on top, you know, just in case :)

The Highlander ceased to be produced a long time ago. In the current year of 3049 it's a very very rare mech. Stalker, in the other hand is the MOST COMMON assault mech. See the difference?

Actually, the downgraded -733 Highlander remained in action throughout the Succession Wars, until the Helm Core got the Star League-era design back into production. The -732 at this point is back in production on Son Hoa, in Lyran space by 3049- in part because one of the Grey Death Legion members so loved the design he poured a small fortune into getting the -732 restored to manufacture.

It's a Super-pult. Nifty. Though I read it's really slow on Sarna. Would be interesting to tweak with an XL engine and some other fine tuning.

You could, but it's going to suffer a bit in the firepower department. Swapping up to a 340 XL will end up losing you a ton and half somewhere. Probably just drop the SRM racks down to 4-packs and add a little armor, you're all good except for the extra fragility in the side torsos. That'll be as fast as it goes- basically the same speed as the MWO Cataphract or Hunchback.

I am so damn [REDACTED] right now it isn't funny.

Just need the Battlemaster, Black Knight and Banshee 3S and I'll be on cloud 9!

That's for having a few friends over for beers after the fight. You supply the space, they supply the beers, also room for a grill if the weather's nice. Careful not to have it over the missile racks though...just in case. The Stalker is the Party mech.

I did not expect to see this mech at launch. Here is why: Why take a catapult when you can just now take a stalker? Yea, you lose some speed and mobility, BUT, you get a lot more armor. Seems to me a funky choice.
