Fortunately tomorrow is bar work all day. Progress!
I was caught singing again. This time 'If I Had a Heart' by Fever Ray. I had never before realized just how much I require music to get through the day.

Reminder: Get to posting. It's getting hard to remain tightlipped.

EDIT: Also, you need to choose which of the toys on your list you want to swap out for Spokes' Spider, remember
Also, you made the '63 mistake too
Twice.
And uh, so did Shep.
Well that mistake just keeps on giving!
EDIT 2: Posted before work, sorry the end is a bit rough. Cochrane will wait for any follow up questions about the naval tactics, then Vantas will answer Thom.

Also, loving how critical we're being over the plan. Was thinking that Cees would probably have the same concerns, but he's letting his eagerness get the better of him at the moment. Loving Li being worried about that.
Also, Li must have been through a lot in the last few years to have changed so much. Hope you don't mind Spokes, but I'm using it as a bit of a case study as to improve my own character development. It's great looking at her internal dialogue here compared to Chronicles of Vega's Havoks.

I don't mind at all-- honestly I'd be curious to see what you've picked up on so far. Sometimes I'm just too close to the character to get an accurate read on that sort of thing. Observations, opinions and critiques are always welcome.
That said, I think some of what you're seeing is due to the differences between the two threads. In Havoks, Li is very much "back on her heels" right from the very beginning. She went from having a cushy support job lined up, to being dispossessed and thrown in jail at gunpoint, to being co-opted into a rebel army with a semi-legal contract, all in the time span of a few hours. She's on a unfamilar world on the front line of a war between two factions she's never heard of, and with no meaningful combat experience.
Consider too that the Havoks thread has run for 11 pages now, and Li still has no idea what any of the other PCs even look like. They're all just voices in her headset.
Writing Li in Steel and Snow has been something of a challenge in that I don't have control over or knowledge of the intervening six years. Li has been a freelance "contractor" most of her life, as were her parents and their parents. Even though it was almost exclusively support and rescue work, I figure there were a lot of times where Li's family had to look out for jobs that were more dangerous than they needed to be. Not necessarily out of malice, but rather ignorance on the part of the employer. I don't see Li as being an expert in space combat, but I do think she's had to learn enough to know when a potential employer hasn't done their due diligence in that area. In this particular case, I think what's really eating at Li is the disparity between Vantas' attitude and the rest of the RAI MechWarriors. Something just doesn't feel right, and Li is trying to stir the pot to see if she can shake something loose. Why is that RAI lance leader looking nervously at us?
In Vegas Havoks, long term Li really isn't thinking much beyond her next pay check and wiring the next bit of money back home to help keep her father alive. There is a relative lack of self confidence, though anger and exhaustion have kind of burned that away for the moment. There was also a fair amount of passive "god modding" going on in the first half dozen or so pages of that thread.
In Steel and Snow, Li's father has passed away, and for the last few years she's had to refocus her life back on herself. She's been effectively dispossessed and forced to watch while her surrogate family takes on the assignments she helps put together for them. And given a sudden opportunity, Li has taken one huge roll of the dice on a chance to get back into the saddle again.

So my 6 hour shift lasted ten hours without a break. That's what I get for volunteering to help. Brownie points with the boss though, and some extra money. Tomorrow is gonna suck *ss though. Up in under 4 hours and working from 4-close. Judging by today, that'll be a straight 11 hours.
So y'know, don't expect any posts for a few days. May even go silent if we *do* end up in the flat tomorrow since I don't believe we have internet set up. Be warned.
Hmmm. Hadn't meant for Bacon to freak everyone out so much. She's just nervous 'cos she's shy as balls and this is heavy stuff. Vantas is flippant 'cos he's just like that. That's basically his style of humour. "Oh we have Warships btw, do you like 'em?" Given preference, he'll not go serious on the naval stuff. In his opinion it's not his area of expertise. He views the Naval crews the same way he does techs - tell them what he wants achieved and let's them figure it out. Due to his lack of knowledge, he pokes fun at it. Thom would know all this, some of you might gain the impression, but overall this is OOC knowledge.
As for timestamps, that is precisely what I do.
I'm not sorry

Steel and Snow is going to be *finally* getting back in action soon. Nomad is going to flip out at the briefing a bit, we'll all be reacting to that and I'll be calling that to an end. I want us at the IC big reveal by Monday 17th and in the sims by Monday 3rd March. This is more character and fluff centred than WO, so I want to give everyone a chance to talk to each other and ask around but if we're not progressing, on those days I will just move the plot ahead. Taking lessons from GM Sparks, lookit me learnin' and sheeit.
However, any deadlines I make are negotiable, we're all in this for fun and if you're having fun and doing things in the current scene I have no issues hanging about. They're purely there to encourage progression and faster posting - from myself as well
