Charge Ppcs

I suggest to revert the recharge mechanism on ppcs.
In the moment you fire them, then wait to recharge.
I suggest that you need to charge them (hold button down to charge, then release to fire).

They gain 0.33 damage and 0.08 (0.1 for erppc) heat for every 0.1 sec you charge them up to a max of 10 damage and 8 (10) heat after 3 seconds. The heat adds up after charge until you release the trigger.

Charging gives you 8 (10 for erppc) heat, for every second you hold your shoot after that you gain 0,8 (1 for erppc) additional heat.

This way the ppc become a real skill weapon you must think about to use it effective.
When the emp-effect kicks in is a question. At 100% charge only or do you charge the time of it up too?

Want more skill:
Reduce the damage for holding the trigger after recharge by 0,1 for every 0,1 sec, this way you have only a short window of opportunity to use them with full effect.
If you hold your shoot for 4 seconds (after full charge) you gain 3,2 additional (4 for erppc) heat and the damage is reduced to 6 ....

I dont think they will do this, I dont want them to either to be honest although I understand your logic. MechAssault 1-2 on xbox the PPCs were like that however it didnt feel right to me.

In books even it was a weapon that would just fire instantly.

Lets see what it looks like after everything is released and maybe if balance is too messed up we can play with ideas like this.

The above mentioned Xbox game and its sequel should never be referenced or even spoke of. It has nothing to do with mechwarrior or Battletech. If any copies of this game are found they should immediately be cast into the fires from which it came for the good of all humanity.

Hey, don't diss mechassault, how would you induct 2-year olds with down syndrome into mechwarrior without it?

PPC Capacitor's do this. Read up, and enjoy. Its a piece of equipment that can be mounted, per TT.

Also PPC's still don't have the ability for the user to turn off the minimum range modifier: PPC Field Inhibitor

Personally i think reverting th stats to what they wre befrore the rewind would be best way to solve PPCs. Make them have more heat slower recharges and maybe a tad more damage for ER PPC to offset the additional heat.

But if you wanted to go a bit farther i say the player shoots but has to hold the reticle on target till it hits. Its supposed to be a lightning bolt not a spit wad like it is now. An analogy now. If a clout discharges a lightning bolt but did not hit the ground then then the bolt would not occur since it was not grounded. So having them hold the target for the bolt to connect is valid.

Wouldn't the "charge time" of the PPCs essentially be the cycle time between firing?

It does deviate wildly from tradition and for the most part I think it was a mediocre game. However, I feel your judgement is too harsh. I would pay $5 for it and enjoy it.

To say it has nothing to do with MechWarrior isnt true since they did have mechs and other units/lore based sometimes loosely off of that very same franchise.

This Was released in 3060, and our time line for the game currently is 3050, and that wont be available for another 10 years..
I'm not sure who came up with the time line gimic but it should be rethought a little.

PPCs recharge times already charges it up, ready to go. No real need to spend further time charging it.

It had power ups, respawn and manditory 3rd person view. Also if I remember correctly it had a gigantic legless robot that drug itself around like an gimp, and it was a console game. Totally demeaned the good name of the Iridani Light Horse and the Wolfs Dragoons.

Why is there always a troll that contributes nothing to the topic and doent know what he is talking about?

I played a lot in a 2xerppc cicade the last weeks.
Maybe you can understand now why i suggested this ....
