I've searched the forums long and hard, but I can't find another post so...

In previous incarnations it was possible to setup a firing group into subsections. I'd like to see this reimplemented.

Example, you have a straight up laser build with, say, 8 medium lasers. You have enough heatsinks to negate heat when firing 2 at a time. You assign all lasers to your left mouse button group, and split that group into 4 groups of 2 lasers. Holding down your left mouse button fires 2 lasers at a time. Spamming LMB would fire all 8 lasers in 4 clicks.

To do this currently, I would have to setup 4 weapon groups all over my mouse and keyboard with 2 lasers each (plus one more with all the lasers in it), carefully fire them, then pin down my alpha strike button (or LMB). Then I am in group fire mode on my LMB until there is nothing to shoot at, in which case I have to start all over again.

There are lots of requests for various fire modes, but I miss this one enough to not bother setting up builds that would require (when appropriate) firing like this without my recticule going console gamer mode ;-)

I would say just use a macro, implementing it in game seems like it would be at least a bit complicated.

The macro would simply fire twice in rapid succession for your one click, basically getting the same effect.

put 4 on the RMB and four on the LMB and when you hit both when chained you get you fire rate.
