Oh well

he is obviously talking about the retractable cup holder on the front of the computer. those need much more structural integrity than they have.

Why is it so boring to listen to IT people go on about hard disks and RAIDs and such?

I always wondered
why are they called floppy disks
when they are so stiff?

Because you're only thinking about 3.5" floppies with the rigid shell. The older 5.25" floppy disks (and the even older even bigger ones) has soft cases and were "floppy"

More specifically, all floppy disks have a platter that is made of flexible plastic, as opposed to the rigid platters of hard disks.
