Please bring this mech to MWO :P

So I listed the wrong model thanks to Arctic Fox for pointing this out.

EDIT: Though I'm not so sure about '137-A'. The actual designation is SHP-X4

You must be trolling.

The omega is a fan based creation if memory serves and not a actual canon mech. So it will never be in MWO

Incorrect, the Omega is canon.

EDIT: Though I'm not so sure about '137-A'. The actual designation is SHP-X4...

Anyway, no, I don't think they should. Not only does it not appear until the end of the Jihad, the Omega only ever actually participates in a single battle, and only in very small numbers.

Don't we have a thread about Super-Heavies around here somewhere...?

Just pulled this from mektek.. Just seems fishy. Also first time seeing this mech.

BattleMech Technical Readout

Type/Model: Omega 137A
Tech: Inner Sphere / 3025
Config: Biped BattleMech
Rules: Level 2, Custom design

Manufacturer: (Unknown)

Targeting & Tracking System: (Unknown)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
In 2765, Lord Richard Cameron granted Renault-Prime Industries, the
manufacturer of the highly successful heavy 'Mech the Flashman, to begin
testing on their newly designed assault 'Mech called the Omega. Shortly after
Renault-Prime had built their first prototype Omega, Stefan Amaris succeeded
in his conquest of the Terran Hegemony. Amaris then ordered the Omega project
moved to Terra so that his scientists could monitor its testing. After the
Reunification War was over, not trace of the Omega could be found. It is
believed that when General Kerensky's forces liberated Terra, they took the
prototype Omega with them on the Exodus.

==Capabilities:==
The Omega was designed along the same lines as the Flashman. In
essence a mobile laser battery, the Omega can lay down a withering barrage of
laser fire that can incinerate most 'Mechs in a matter of seconds. The 18
HilTec double-strength heat sinks keep the heat potential down to a minimum as
long as the weapon fire is staggered. Unfortunately, most of the test pilots
involved in the project had a tendency to fire all the weapons involved. The
addition of jumpjets was added as an afterthought. News from the front of the
Reunification War had show instances where lack of mobility had doomed many an
assault because the 'Mechs could not support the rest of their company. The
addition of jumpjets was hoped to alleviate some of the SLDF's concerns. The
Pitban engine was a trusted design and was considered worth the cost involved.
Combined with 19 tons of Kemplar X9000 armor made the 'Mech particularly
difficult to take down. Its Faust/Shinji targeting system provided accurate
but somewhat spotty performance, a factor that wasn't improved until the
project was moved to Terra.

==Deployment==
Due to the Reunification War, none were produced.

Ah, I see. That indeed looks like some non-canon unit, but the images he linked to are the official artwork of the SHP-X4 Omega, which is a canon Super-Heavy 'Mech that appears in Jihad: Final Reckoning.

maybe it was a fan creation that was turned into canon?

Well it looks damn cool and I'm guessing that those massive cannons on its shoulders and head are not lasers. Looks more like gauss rifles to me.

In any case, sure why not have it, the design was built before 3049, although, as it's not a commonly seen Mech' then make it hard to obtain or even make it a cash only Mech'.

it's in the Battle for Terra Source book, or in the Final Reckoning source book, it's 150 tons of superheavy holy crap badness. 3 gauss rifles and 2 LB10X, and at least thirty years out of the current tech of the game...

I'm quite sure it isn't. I think the one you posted is just a fan design that predated the canon 'Mech and is completely separate from it. Its stats don't match the canon one at all as well (50 tons too light, for one).

The weapons on the torsos are indeed Gauss rifles, and the arms have LB-10 X ACs. It was most definitely not built until the 3070s, though.

You mean the class of 'mechs that there are only 3 of? The Omega (canon), the Ares and it's variants (not canon, but made by WizKids), and the Orca (also not canon)?

The Ares is canon, it just doesn't have canon stats or rules yet. And if you're including non-canon ones, there's also the very appropriately named Hogarth from Free Taiw...St. Ives.

I think it might be naming issues or something as the one i linked the Omega 137-A is the one from mektek i have also now found at a few other sites. It looks like a walking egg with arms. Then there is the Omega SHP-4X which is the 150ton monster mech with 3 guass rifles and 2 LBx 10's from the Jihad source book.

So you've got the Omega, which doesn't show up for another few decades, and the Ares, which will probably never see the light of day again, regardless of it's canonicity. That word does not exist, but you know what I mean. XD

Why do people try to bash a guy for asking the Devs for a mech that is canon and comes from their own stories? Does it make you feel important? I just don't get it, at least it's not a pony thread if your looking to flame a person make sure you have good reason. Otherwise it just makes you look childish and a fool. I'm just reading the stories and getting into all the back lore of battletech, I do not claim I know it all but know if it's in a book it's canon. You'll see I have a very low post count, I'm a new member and from the way a few of you welcome newbies, I can say the community seems a bit rude, although some with knowledge have come to my defense and I thank you, the rest here to flame please just leave my post and take your opinion with you. :o
