I'm a new player, and I simply figure this is worth posting. I felt like alpine peaks was coming up over and over, and since this is my least likeable map it was getting annoying...Apparently my stats agree. Forest Colony 35 17 18 0.94 02:37:13 Frozen City 38 24 14 1.71 03:09:27 Caustic Valley 37 18 19 0.95 02:57:22 River City 41 17 24 0.71 02:51:43 Forest Colony Snow 31 12 19 0.63 02:08:05 Frozen City Night 41 16 25 0.64 03:11:44 River City Night 35 18 17 1.06 02:21:07 Alpine Peaks 81 39 42 0.93 08:47:54 Tourmaline Desert 52 27 25 1.08 05:13:42

hrmm, didn't post like it was previewed. Anyways Alpine peak is at 81 matches played...the rest are in the 30s except for tourmaline desert which is at 52. The map balance needs to be adjusted IMO.

You'll hate... I mean "love" the new map in due time.

Map distribution has been skewed for a month plus, and will continue to be skewed for the new map (Tourmaline and Alpine will go back to normal... we hope).

Tell me about it. Hate the big maps but they show up over and over. There used to be a bias but I thought they removed that?

This bias to Alpine and Tourmaline is being removed next patch, the 21st. (Of course, it will be replaced by Canyons, so....)

Even so, without the weighting, truly random map generators can lead to significantly skewed stats, so be patient.

Ever since one of the last two most recent patches, my Tourmaline ratio has been way down... It just got replaced by Alpine. *shrug*

I can handle it, Alpine is cooler than Tourmaline. No, not a pun. I prefer the snowy maps.

I just checked my maps, and yes alpine, and Tourmaline are the highest... BUT

If you add up the other maps, a bunch have 2 versions. Night and dark for the 2 city maps, And forest colony has a snow version.

So, seeing they are basically the same maps, if you add up the two versions, it ends up being about the same as the 2 large maps.. the only one that shows up as about 30 times less is caustic, which i am fine with.. I really hate that map!

any idea what the new maps is? I know personally i would love a lower gravity moon map. there were some in mech warrior 3's expansion pack.. I really loved those maps! Rocky mountains, craters, lower gravity.. night... with stars.. would be really cool

Canyon. A caustic valley sized map with high and low levels. Stay up high for sniper-happy battles. Get down into the canyons and trenches to brawl without much worry of snipers. Very Mars-like in color scheme.

Not next, but sometime in the near future an Asteroid map has been mentioned, as well as "We have ideas for a map themed at the bottom of the ocean." (Something tells me we won't see that for a long ways off.) A low gravity atmosphere-less moon setting is also supposed to come, as well as several more urban, jungle, etc. environments.

For something interesting try this: next time you get on River City, look at the North West. That's a nearby planet. You're on a moon.
