when i saw the sale on the x5 i nearly jumped for joy as i already got the 3M and am quite happy with it....and then i saw it hasnt got ams (which _every_ other mech has) nor the ecm the 3M has. i really thought i had bought the wrong mech cause witht that layout its nothing but a centurion with different skin and cbill bonus

are there any plans to change the X5 or did i waste the mc for a 3rd class mech ? cause atm the 3M is by far better than the X5 when you give it the skeleton and the armor.

i´m really thinking about selling the X5 so i get the mechbay slot free for a different mech, please do something about this issue and give it at least the ams....cause the way it is at the moment its nothing but a prime target for every mech with LRM and rather useless.

hope you work on it and i dont regret i bought the damned think for MC

cheers,

durutti

Urm - I really enjoy any cicada varient.

In fact your post is a duplicate of one posted just a day or two ago that got pages of respones defending the X-5.

Some tips
- remember your not really a medium. Your a heavier-than-usual-light. Play accordingly.
- The stock fit is actually very good on the x-5. What have you changed?
- Not every other mech has arms. See the other Cicada varients.

the X5 is maxed out with all possible upgrades, to be the big brother of the jenner 3D... and that job it does great... there is not much to change about it though, cause for the layout it has, it´s already pretty much optimized... you can, btw, easily see that in the purchase window if you take your time to look at what you buy...

i guess the main reason why it has no arms is pretty much explained in my first sentence... the jenner has at least the advantage of aiming vertical

I love the x5, it is great for taking down assaults. it is fast and they have a very hard time targeting me while i circle them and rip them up with 4 med lasers and an srm6. It easily outruns LRM's you can be in cover long before they come close. MY damage is normally in the top 3. It is quite a powerful mech for the size.

Yeah, iMO, it's not a great 'mech, but I might drop the engine down to a 300XL and run BAP and SSRM2s.

Or, if they ever buff SRMs back to their old values, using a pair of SRM6s would give you a very high alpha, making it great for backstabbing.

Really, without the SRM buff, the X-5 is a Jenner Prime without Jump Jets. So, I bought the X-5 assuming SRMs are going to get tweaked, since SRMs are currently awful.

A very fast mech like Cicada does not need AMS to defend itself against LRMs, most missiles will miss it and AMS would be wasted.

X-5 can pack respectable firepower and still run at 133km/h. With two SRM6 it becomes a first class backstabber and a big game hunter.

I seriously considered getting a X-5 as was training up Cicada, but just reminded me of an over sized Raven and with current SRM problems did not think it would be worth it.
Waiting to see what they do with SRM/SSRM long term before I look at it again.

Enjoying Cicada laser boat anyway.

Oh BTW - I thkink he actually said AMS, not ARMS

In which case I say FEE to you sir, why is AMS sooooooo important? Your too fast to hit with most missles anyway??

QFT

They are already tough to kill, adding a BAP will only make them better against lights.

And saying the X5 is bad? Maybe you are a bad pilot? Maybe leave the mech in its stock config?

i said ams, not arms, yes

my problem isnt that i dont understand the cda nor that i got a problem with the mech.....all i wanted to say is that _every_ other mech got ams and/or ecm (the 3M) except this one....thats a information that should at least have a reason (except "its already that fast..."). and, with the modifications, the 3M is by far better (imho), the other versions for sure not much worse (the 3M with ecm and a ppc-flamer combination or with uac/lbx is a killer, has the same speed, ams AND ecm)
for sure adding an ecm or ams would justify the price (only purchasable with MC ???) better than the possible slots it has now, 3000MC are a nice amount and if i had knew that it had no ams/ecm i would have got me a different mech for that price - its no fun being downed by LRM when approaching the enemy

cheers,

durutti

well the srm 6 dont make much sense as it doesnt fire 6 missiles but only 2 at once so the chance to hit with a lot of them is rather small

I use 2 Large Lasers and 2 SRM2s on mine. Make it a fast striker.

I like the X-5. It's like a bigger, badder Jenner-F

The X-5 isn't a bad mech, it's just like the 3M... except remove the ballistic and add two missile slots

4 ML + 2 streak + BAP (light crusher, after May 21st)
4 ML + 2 SRM6 (big mech backstabber)

LOL, I read the OP as a whine about the X-5 not having arms. I now see he meant AMS. LOL.

IMO, this mech doesn't need AMS. Also, it's arguably the best default loadout of any mech in the game. It comes standard with just about everything you would ever want to load. All I've done is drop a DHS and swap the SRM2s for streaks and I've been having a blast with this little *******.

I don't know what the whole 'the X5 is bad' thing is. I have all 5 Cicadas and for me the X5 is the best. 4 ML + 2 Streaks. Best light hunter

The X-5 is definetly one of the best variants of the Cicada. I love all of the Cicadas, but i have to admit the X-5 is atm my favorite.
