Is there a way to do this already that I don't know? I'm begging you, devs. I apologize if it's already implemented and I missed it. If it's not implemented, please get it done ASAP.

Losing 0-8 and getting insta-killed by PPC Stalkers and AC40 Jagers can be frustrating at times, but... What really gets me, what really breaks the camel's back, is having to listen to the insults between dead teammates who are blaming each other and/or myself for the loss.

Is there any way to ignore future messages from these guys? Have the devs talked about implementing this?

Exit the match upon death, and start another with a different mech? Seriously, why is this PGI's problem to solve?

I guess for the same reasons that other multiplayer games have an ignore function

• It's easier for everyone if the players just ignore people who are rude, instead of sending an e-mail to support each time. Of course, you need to report the really extreme stuff, racism and such.
  
• Sometimes I like to watch the rest of a match after I die, and chat with other players, compliment them or ask them question. You know, be part of a community. And it's unfortunate if I have to exit the match because a few guys are being rude. Isn't that part of the idea, having a community?
  
• An easy way to flag players who are having a negative impact on the community, is to watch how many people are ignoring them. If it's more than 100, perhaps it should be looked into

ignoring all friendly players is the first step to teamwork.

if someone is dead and notices something you don't, just ignore.

I thought there was already an ignore feature available to people all the time, oh yeah you can actually ignore what's typed with no additional work from anyone.

Well, yes. If I make sure my team wins every time, then that certainly stops some of the insults directed at me, although it certainly doesn't stop the insults directed at other teammates, or from the losing team.

Generally though, insults are not a major problem in this game, but I think an ignore function is relatively easy to implement. In, say, 9/10 games, people are either completely silent or talkative and positive. But in 1/10 games, I would gladly pay for the ability to simply remove one or two players from the conversation.

If you get frustrated by the idiots, just leave the game after dieing, I leave it alot when pugging, esp. if I don't know/am not chatting with anyone.

the player base is getting more and more abusive.

i tend to ignore them because that ****** them off more than the insult pissed me off.

but notice how the abuse comes mainly from dead players targeted at alive players. thats irony for you

Abusive chat just wears me down.

When you get a bit older in life, you come home from work and get a couple of hours to chill once the kids are in bed. You just want to relax and not see:

"Cap you ******* *****.Thanks for the help you ******** ********. You are a complete ****** ******. Nice team, what a bunch of ****** ******."

Most people are fine but there are some idiots who spoil it for others.

There seems to be some kind of movement that says it is wrong to complain or to let it get to you.

Nothing wrong with a laugh or a bit of friendly smack talk, but if people cross the line I say report it and try to keep the game a nice place to be.

if you can't see the glass half full then i'm sorry, and this is probably not the game for you, where teamwork just plain works

i'll go even further and say if you're so easily offended maybe the internet is not for you

Why stop there?

PGI has already said they don't want to let people disable chat. Fortunately, that's not what this thread is about, I'm talking about ignoring specific people, if they're hostile.

As egotistical as it is, it's true. If you consistently deal enough damage in a round or kill off key targets, most people will have noticed you have done something right and leave you alone.
