Forget the 6MG Spider, I want to know how this picture is balanced.

It is not who won/lost I care about, just look at the weight of the Mechs on each team. I knew the enemy would have at least 1 Assault despite our team not having one. Someone said in chat it matched weight within 50 tons, are you kidding?

It's actually a snowball effect, as even one mech lost means you'll fall prey to Lanchester's Square Law as they'll have more guns to tear you down, that's why focus fire and moving in groups is so important, no matter what the lighters (Conspiracy theorists) say.

So much this. I'm unliking your post so I can like it again. I've even been the guilty party of being the "first assault mech killed" before just because I 'snuck' around the corner right into the face of five assault mechs. Even in a fully-armored Stalker, that's not a real long fight.

You lose a light or a scout, you might still pull off the win, but if you lose one of your heavy hitters early in the game without taking out (or severely hurting) of theirs, there's a good chance that match is going to go badly.

The main cause of steamrolling in this game is the domino effect caused by the loss of one or two mechs.

You aren't being steamrolled by a bad matchmaker and uber-leet players.

You are getting steamrolled by MATH once you lose your first meat shield and its associated firepower.

380 tons vs 480 tons by my calculation. a large but not insurmountable difference with the right mechs. unfortunately your team had no FOTM mechs while they had two (HGN & 3D) and they also had what appears to be a CDA premade. judging by the chat you guys may have made a tactical mistake also. Very difficult to win that situation.

I agree...the MATH of ELO doesn't work, which then leads to the MATH you reference. I've been playing this and other wargames a long time...you can feel the difference when it is a Lanchesters Square Law(which also has debatable assumptions BTW) effect or a "my team-mates are window-lickers" effect.
