Its really just not as dire as you are making it out to be. When I pilot lights, I do not fear other lights with streaks. What does concern me is going up against two lights. A streak cat is a little more scary but not impossible.
adapt and overcome I say.

It's not Dire now not because of the mechanics but because of the damage it is at right now. Back during LRM-Apocalypse Streaks would 3 shot my commando......6 streak missiles would kill my commando.
The big big issue is that if i am cored or hurt, i can protect my CT from every weapon in the game but Streaks due to their always torso hit and large splash radius. Even getting hit in the back armor deals damage to the front CT. All things that are bad mojo.
Patch today is going to bring BAP up and steaks will run wild. You'll see what I mean.

LRMpocolypse 1 lasted for maybe a week (don't think it was that long) lrmpocolapse 2 was a few days. I was playing during CB when streakapults were all the rage, I didn't run one then, but I also wasn't particularly afraid of them either.
If you jump high enough torso mounted ssrms can't lock onto you. Just jump up on a building or cliff and poptart shoot the streak boats.

Seriously though I don't think it will be as bad for spiders as what you fear.

Mechs with arms capable of aiming upwards (aka pretty much all of them) will still be able to fire their torso SSRMs at you if you're flying due to the tracking nature of the weapon.

I'd rather lead the way towards a brighter tomorrow w/out broken items than improvise and adapt to overcome them

Except if they nerf them they will be broken. It sounds like the damage buff and splash nerf might be good for it not hitting the ct when its not supposed to.

SSRMs don't feel anymore powerful then they were before the patch. So... no worries right?

Day 1: October - Streaks are overpowered and a bad concept.
Today 2: Nothing has changed they are overpowered and a bad concept.
See Above: For all reasons.

I have been playing a Jenner a fair amount since the patch (all lasers) and I haven't really had any trouble with streak boats.
I have also played my streakboat, and still come in around the same damage/kill level as I would with one of my other mechs. If streakboats are not topping the damage and or kill charts anymore than any other build then there really isn't a problem. Same with LRM's or any other "easymode" weapon. You are already going to be pitted against people about your play level due to elo, what does it matter if the opponent uses a weapon you consider easymode. Unless the weapon starts getting used exclusively it isn't a problem. I would have the same problem if MLs started getting used exclusively as I would any other weapon because in a homogenous environment there is nothing to change one drop from the next. The recent buff to LRMs is great I think because its now a viable weapon again even though I have no LRM using mechs.
