amen brother!!!!

TRO version was ludicrous, IMO, whereas the MW4 version had BRAWLER wrote all over it. Might be partially because White tends to own Plog (IMO) as an artist though.

You DO KNOW that the MW4 version was like the 5th iteneration that the artist made and that it was pushed by Microsoft to be more "flair" instead of actually showing a lower profile of the city fighter the Fafnir is? EVERYONE can shoot the MW4 version thats why i never used it on PVP, it was just so easy to shoot CT it was ridiculous. The TRO version (drawing not the mini) is actually something that i would drive and have some hope i'm not cored in 2 seconds, and in the hands of Alex it would be glorious.

I still remain true to my former statement, the work is sublime and the attention to detail something of transcendental, it was just the wrong version to me. STILL, its the artists favorite and thats that.

you realize profile would be a simple matter of scale? Just because MW4 and Microsoft supremely oversized everything doesn't mean crap. THe basic squat profile is pretty similar to the others,

Feel free to like which version you like. But don't get in a twist if others disagree.

I did not know that...and I don't now how that tid bit of info would change my opinion. Should I suddenly hate this version because Microsoft pushed a redesign? I still like this one more than the TRO design...

It makes printing mechs almost.. lazy. How long did that take you?

It took about two months...there would be weeks where I got nothing done and other weeks were I would put in 30 hours on it. It did take a while though...but well worth it I believe.

....This is completely scratch built...no 3D printed parts (that is an art form all its own), no kit. Just me, my knife, and sheets of plastic....

My word!

Nice paint job.

Are you using solid thick pieces of plastic to make these? (As opposed to sheet styrene/plasticard.)

I use flat sheet styrene and use the paper model as a template. Often, for stability I will back-fill the pieces with resin. In the pics below you can see where I started off at with the sheet plastic.

Interesting, I thought you were using large chunks of plastic and then carving out the pieces based on how smooth your edges and corners appear. They really look like one single piece. Is that just the result of careful measuring and cutting or do you file/sand it down or carefully apply plastic glue to melt the edges and let them flow together?

Doesn't back-filling with resin get expensive? When I'm building stuff I typically use foamcore, styrofoam, or foam insulation (the non beaded stuff) for the bulk of it and then clad it in sheet styrene. Though this may not be durable enough for what you're doing. I'm just thinking there must be an alternative to resin or something you could use as a filler (or aggregate?) to take up space and then use the resin to fill in the gaps.

To be honest, I cheat a bit. I tend to keep every little detail piece I have miss-cast. I take those old pieces and break them into smaller pieces, put that junk into the model, then pour resin over it. Still, a build like this would take about $30 in resin. I feel it is necessary to get the results I want in a build this big. Bear in mind, not all pieces are back filled...and sometimes I pour in the resin and roll the piece while the resin cures creating a hollow cast effect. I have tried expanding foam, but there is always shrinkage that causes bowing in the pieces.

As for the nice edges, some pieces I get "pre-cut" by a friend. Mostly, it is a matter of being very careful with the hobby knife. I do use a liquid glue to make the edges blend into each other. I am also a fan of Aves Apoxy Sculpt...really helps with parts of the build.

Alright...about to the finish line. Just have to play with the cockpit glass and a few other things. Its a pity my photography skills suck. The pics don't do it justice. The flash washed out the detail and made silver highlights look white. I just need to set up a basic lighting rig....

Nicely done! You managed to make it look the right amount of "beat up"

It looks better in person. I suck at photography and no matter how I try, the flash washes out details or makes silver edges look white. I need to make a white backdrop like you have and just buy a few lamps for light sources.

I forgot how hard it can be to weather black. God bless pastels!
