Yeah, this isn't a real problem OP.

I hate to use a trite phrase... but it's imminently applicable here. L2P.

Cool good to know masses of PPC assault mechs and PPC poptarts aren't dominating right now. Puts my mind at ease.

Also once the BAP change comes in both of the most complained about PPC assaults will have the option of packing in a bunch of streaks to deal with those pesky lights.

Winter is coming.

That has to do with the meta game of how people have chosen to play more than anything. When you don't try to move as a blob or play firing line it's not nearly the problem most people are claiming it to be. As has been true of just about every OP or broken issue so far.

Are you basically saying, "would the assault mechs pretty please scatter across the map so our light mech wolf pack can kill you one by one?"

Nope, I play assaults as well. I'm just pointing out that all the griping about OP builds is futile as long as people are approach the game as TDM. Create a TDM mode and we can just ignore balance in it completely because it can't be done. Then create other modes and let the modes force balance on their own.

A trial Atlas is really cumbersome.
But once you complete the Elite skills on your owned mech and put 350 engine, the 2x basic bonus makes all the difference.

Having said that, I back-stabbed a lot of Atlases yesterday in my 5ML Jenner.

Sounds like a 2v1. Of course you can beat them if you have twice the mechs.

In lights. I can solo take out a solo heavy/assault too... it just takes longer. Assaults are still my main meat it just requires more chewing.

The usual thing that kills me in a 1v1 against an assault is his team mates coming. I've killed plenty of assaults when I had enough time to wear him down.

If you're in a light mech and can't manage to stay behind an atlas it is your own fault. Just see which way the legs are pointing and stay directly behind them, use minimal movement to avoid getting hit with the arm lasers. If you go full speed you won't be able to stop once the atlas turns the other way. Pressing 0 and then pressing x is an option however, as you'll accelerate/decelerate much faster. If there are other mechs with him why are you even there? You're not going to win a 2 vs 1 in any mech if the enemy is at least halfway competent.

still want to see mech agility more tied to the mech itself rather than the size of the engine.

Hah, fat chance of that happening.

That is along the lines of asking for more hardpoint restrictions so that the Awesome becomes the PPC boater of MechWarrior (which is a good thing, I think, but will never happen).

If a light or medium can't deal with an assault in the most advantageous tactical situation possible then how are they to be effective when the assaults group up in lances as they should?

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT??? This is exactly what I'm afraid of !!!! Lights are not brawlers!!! Lights are spotters and intelligence gathering guys. I understand that you guys want to be agile, but I don't think its right a light mech being able to kill heaviest mechs in the game!!!! Mediums are for support purposes also!

This is not a torso twist problem, but problem in your head -->> ("I'M A CHAMPION IN THE WORLD AT COD/QUAKE/MEDAL OF HORROR/BATTLEFIED/whatever. IF I'm FAST AND AGILE I CAN KILL EVERYTHING!!!!") <<--- ---- HELL--- NOO!!!--- is My answer. This is completely different game!!!

Developers must re-balance lights and give them better xp/c-bills rewards for spotting and assisting but not for brawling

Hate to disagree with you Karr, but, no, just no. Assaults need to have some capability to respond to anklebiters running circles around their legs. ATM, you have to either stop, or throw yourself into reverse to be able to even attempt to track a faster mech, and even then, over 125km/h lights still can go faster than you can turn.

No, making assaults totally unable to defend against that tactic is not balance.

Yeah they should. It's called having other teammates nearby with massive arsenals. Assaults are rarely alone.

Or god forbid having fast mediums and light skirmishers to watch your back would actually be encouraged rather than just all assault all the time.

Wrong, assaults are frequently alone, because in most pug drops, people are chasing the squirrels or focused on getting to a target. ATM, with rewind, what used to be circling with impunity has become alot harder, with SOME CHANCE of the assault or heavy actually being able to drive off that light. And, in matches where the last guy is a light and an assault, the assault at least has a chance to win, as does the light.

Back to the Wall. Again if a lone assault can still beat a lone light easily then what purpose do lights serve other than being cap robots?

I mean a match could end up a 1v1 of an LRM heavy with 2 lasers vs a brawling centurion. Nobody would complain that the LRM boat was completely out of his element and basically had no chance. So why should they complain when their last assault gets picked apart by the other team's last light?

Or as per your example if your team scatters chasing a couple lights they should lose. And lose badly.

I just can't shake the feeling that assaults want to pack all the armor, all the guns, and still not have to worry about being vulnerable to lights in a 1 v 1 situation. And I say this as someone with both a founder's atlas and a heavy metal. It is boring right now and there is no counterplay. The BAP change and the return of streaks will make the situation even more so in favor of assaults.
