End "the Endless Grind"

with only 2 game modes, both of which are cap or kill everyone this game just seems more and more like a grind. there are no other mission objectives, no secondary objectives, no AI, nothing.
i feel pgi should be focussing more on things like this instead of the next money grubbing sale
it cant be that hard to bring out a new game mode, say cap only or deathmatch or arena matches. just feels like a little effort could bring about a lot more variety and freshen up this game before it gets too mouldy

Also, Solaris and Mission-based game modes are on the board, but not a high priority. Welcome to the life of a Beta Tester - you do what the company needs you to do, not what you necessarily want to do.

I am 100% convinced that 90%+ do not, ther is no other rational way to explain the level of stupidity (or willful ignorance) displayed when starting whinethreads..

Not to mention the idiocy in the constant "Omahgerd PGI is having another money grubbing sale instead of [doing something else]!" Sales, of course, eat so much designer, developer, QA and artist time, and PGI clearly doesn't need to make money to keep making those maps and game modes...
...which, as has been noted, are in development, and slated to come out with Community Warfare or sooner.

To be fair, there isn't a good, quick way to gather information about what's coming in this game aside from a player managed thread Upcoming Content Tracker - Last Updated May 17 (probably the best single source of information).
If you want to go to official announcements, all you have is the Announcements, Command Chair, Ask The Devs, https://twitter.com/bryanekman, https://twitter.com/russ_bullock, none of which have a complete picture of where this game is headed other than snippets. You can't blame people for having trouble figuring out what exactly the devs are up to.
It's fair to say the devs don't make a major effort to have a single, reliable and complete source of information on the game development.

The only problem is it doesn't end there because not only is this a beta but it is a Retail Product where people can pay money and expect a service.
So that is conflicting at best, there is an expectation of service due to funds switching hands. That is how business works, you can't just call it a beta and do whatever you want.
EU has strict laws against this sort of business-practice, Fair Business is something that everyone has a right to because it affects everyone as a whole, criminal business is detrimental to us all that is why Fair Business is important.
CW and Solaris will be fun if done correctly, though.

Until PGI starts selling items specific to CW, this is effectively a non-issue. You get full usage out of anything you can buy right now. Yes, we all want CW ASAP. That doesn't mean you have any sort of legal recourse for them getting it out later than you'd like.

No that isn't what I was saying at all, but I agree with it.
I just found it nessicary to respond in a general sense, to that statement that was made.
If we were all beta testing a free game that had no monetary connections then yeah, we'd all be at the end of their chain when it comes to development.
All I was saying was a hypothetical company couldn't release a beta "product" that cost money, just to farm money and not actually provide any real product but hide behind the beta excuse. That's all, common knowledge really.
Misleading in advertising can get companies in a whole lot of trouble too, specifically when they promise the sky but intentionally deliver the ground and still get all the money from promising the sky.

Yes, they can call it Beta.
When people spend money on MWO, they are not spending on any sort of service, they are spending it on a purchase of MC. MC might be used for colors, camo patterns, hero mechs, or Premium Time, but they are not paying for any sort of service.
Nobody that has ever spent any money or MC on MWO can claim [legitmately] that they did not receive what they paid for.

I have faith, they will introduce one very solid new game mode during release or CW. unfortunately after a year one new anything whether it works good or not isn't going to keep me entertained very long.

I agree with this to a point, but I feel that both sides share equal fault.
My only source of regular information are exactly those same threads and subfora, I don`t really care much for twitter, and it`s still enough to regularly generate a facepalm just reading thread titles, and usually a second one when I`m done reading the OP.
The devs are sometimes less than optimal in the way they convey things, no disagreement at all there. But I dare theorize that a large part of the comunity does not even make the effort to look before posting a thread full of baseless accusations, suggestions which are already coming with the next patch, and outright flaming the devs for not doing things that are in fact already implemented. That last part is what also gives me the impression that many of those that whine do not play MWO but prefer FWO.

where should we start. CW was suposed to come christmas, LAST YEAR, clans, pushed back to SUMMER.
when reading the dev tracker and news forums you need a very big pot of salt in hand so you can put a pinch on absolutely everything they say.
a year and a half in and the most basic weapons like lrms and lbx are still broken, so dont troll to me about oh pgi says its coming soon, because they have been saying that everything is coming soon for a very long time now. just look at the FACT that CW will get no beta testing at all, at all! it will go live with the launch thats how far behind they are.
@ syllogy, are you on the pay roll or what? cos i have seen you on so many topics, so many and even though i cant see a pic of you i just know theres a huge chunk of something brown and smelly on the tip of your nose.
i really hope that the new game modes are coming soon and that everything will be great, it most likely will in the long term, but i have no faith what so ever anymore in pgis ability to stick to their etas

Too much time spent trying to put on cheesey sales. Not enough time put into actual fun content.

Karoushi, I understand what you're saying. You're making the point that a business can't charge for a product and then not deliver. You're absolutely right, there are laws in place to prevent that sort of business practice.
The point that others have been making is that PGI is not guilty of this. Yes, some people are paying money, but they aren't paying directly for the game. The transactions that players can make are for the purchase of MC. Once the players have paid and received the allotted amount of MC the transaction has concluded. PGI has no further obligation once they have credited you your MC. Now, we all know that PGI uses the money from these transactions to finance development of the game. However, since the money was not paid to them for the express purpose of finishing development by a certain date, there is no claim to be made that PGI has 'cut and run'.
The money that exchanged hands was for the purchase of in-game currency. Once the transaction is complete there is nothing to stop PGI from investing that money in another department in their business.

Someone who disagrees with you and puts across rational counters is not a troll.
Someone who reverts to name calling just because they don't like the rational answer they're given as an answer isn't strictly speaking a troll either, but one could be forgiving for thinking that they were one.
To be clear: a forum troll is a user who's sole purpose is to create inflammatory threads designed to invoke passionate responses from other users, usually for their own amusement.
