Hello,
I've mastered the Death's Knell and the COM-3A. When I overheat and shut-down on the 3A, it seems to take much, much longer before I auto power up and return to battle than it does when I overheat in the Death's Knell. Both mechs are completely mastered, with all perks unlocked, and this occurs with no input on my part (I don't manually try to power up the mech, but just wait for it to automatically power up).
At first I thought I was just crazy, but I swear it consistently takes much, much longer to return to power after overheating in the 3A than it does in the Knell.
Is this by design? Or some quirk of the mechs in question?
Perhaps I am triggering some additional time penalty associated with the amount I exceed 100% heat, that I'm only experiencing in the 3A?
I've checked my install with the repair tool, and everything is normal. I have no technical issues otherwise.
Anybody else noticed inconsistent overheat times among their mechs or chassis?

mhhh well it's rather simple, the heat mechanics is like this: all variant of a same mech have the same basic heat treshold, in addition, the bigger the engine is the higher the heat threshold is( but it's seem to stop when the engine 300 and higher is reached) and last thing the more heatsink you have the faster you are to cooldown and less the time you have to wait shutdown (plus each heatsink push further the heatsink treshold) it's why i guess you have more probleme with your 3A, you have less heatsink and a lower engine than with the Death's Knell

Ahh. I had no idea that additional heatsinks and engine rating affected the shutdown waiting period. It is indeed true that I have a XL195 in the 3A and only 10 SHS vs a XL200 and 13 or 14 DHS in the Knell.
Mystery solved. Thanks!

indeed your TDK have a higher heat treshold (~1/3~ more) and is twice as efficient in cooling heat than your 3A
however, the engine don't affect directly the shutdown period, but in theory the more your treshold is high the hardest you will grind over the 100% , if you wish you can add me on mwo, we could discuss about the game's mecanics and play too
PS: DHS given by the engine itself and added in the CT slots have an efficiency of 2.0 HPS and DHS "outside" have an efficiency of 1.4 HPS, SHS if i remember well has alway an efficiency of 1.0 HPS

pretty sure engine size has nothing to do with heat threshold other than allowing up to 10 DHS inside the engine with better efficiency than external or "extra" internal ones.
