I am glad it can be shot down, because that at least makes it realistic.
I doubt we'll see many of them once the novelty wears off.

I meant targettable as in they can lock in on it giving away it's position rather than having to visually locate it. I have no issues with it being destructable.

And all the proof you need in this game that PGI has no intention to ever reward scouting is that using a UAV gives you no spotting bonuses whatsoever, yet poptarts that shoot it, hey, here's some xp!
Once again, I'm literrally making the rewards for heavies/assaults bigger while I'm losing it.
my -40k c-bills for your bonus xp, YAY redistribution of wealth!

It's really good if you can buzz through the enemy team, launch, and take off. You get vision of the entire enemy LRM camp spot for your team to rain in on.

I'd like them to fly around like options from Gradius...

The fact that it counters ECM without taking up tonnage or crit slots on my mech adds to it's use. I can zap an ECM Atlas with a ppc, target it, get the missiles flying and then make sure they have a target with the UAV if I can't stick around to keep shooting said Atlas.
Is it "Super Awesome?" no... but it has some uses.

Except everyone on your team is profitting, not you =P. You get nothing, in fact, you get less than nothing, you get -40k cbills.
You make it sound like "everyone on your team is profiting" is a bad thing.
Hell, 40K worth of pixel "Space Bills" fell on the pixel "floor" in our pixel "barracks" the other night. I didn't even bother to pick them up for fear I might hurt my pixel "back". LOL

It is a bad thing. This game is all about the grind for GXP and cbills. So if you're playing support, you're not "winning" the game, and you're lucky to break even. The only thing rewarded in this game is jumping up and down or standing behind a hill shooting LRMs.
Unless those allies are going to buy your atlas and modules, there is little incentive to using the UAV.
Essentially, in a typical match for me, I scout, TAG, and pop UAV on targets and only engage LRM boats on their own, or lights. My end of match rewards end up being around 50-60k unless I get a streak of kills which push me higher.
My two LRM boat buddies that yell at me to put the UAV up and get target locks, 200k+.
A game even if won, if I die shortly after popping the UAV due to lolstreaks I lose money.
I want to get the seismic module. I'm not getting it anytime soon running lights as scouts. I get into my LRM boat and get easily triple the rewards
