I have observed that Hunchback BattleMechs still experience shots landing slightly North of the intended point-of-aim. Omid said this was spotted and addressed, and fixed in the May 21st patch, but the problem still persists.

I would suggest performing an additional in-house look at this. Take any Hunchback out for a stroll, and shoot West; your shots will land to the right of your Reticule. Now face East, and your shots will land to the Left of the intended point-of-aim.

(edit - I mean, this patch has provided an immense improvement and the Hunchbacks are almost perfect for sniping again... but almost... ;-)

Edit - Latest Test.

I just performed an additional test using the Reticule's Range Finder to determine the actual point of aim and to see how it matched up with the crosshairs.

The Developers have fixed the problem of the HUD's crosshairs/reticule drifting to the North in Hunchbacks. HOWEVER, the actual point-of-aim was not fixed and the true Point-of-Aim still drifts to the North.

I took some pictures to illustrate, using the Range Finder to show where the Actual point of aim is. I stood 190 meters away from a Target Mech. In the top picture you'll see that the reticule can be pointing directly at the end of Mech's Arm, but the Range Finder says that you're pointing off into the distance, just a few meters North of your target. In the lower Picture, while pointing several meters south of the actual target, the Range Finder says that the weapons are actually trained on the Target Mech.

You can see in the top picture that I have the tip of the Commando's missile launcher in the middle of the circle, and the cross hairs are inside the bracket. In the lower pic, the cross hairs are pointed outside the bracket, completely.

So, the cross hairs don't drift north anymore, but the Point-of-Aim still does. :P

It appears that the magnitude of inaccuracy does not vary as a function of how distant your weapons are pointing; if it's 2 meters off @ a range of 100m, it'll still be about 2m off @ 500m range. The only variable that affects the magnitude of inaccuracy is the cardinal direction.

I hope the Devs might be able to fix it, knowing now what they learned from fixing the HUD drift, and possibly applying it to the Point-of-Aim.

You sure? I just drove 4P and 4SP to the testing grounds and didn't see this bug anymore. Seems fixed for me at least.

I've had a lengthy experiment running with other ppl. Read it up here and tell me if this is about what you've experienced.

I've experienced this same issue and was going to send a support request in about it, but I see I'm not the only one who's had the problem. Recently I was maxing out my HBK-4J and HBK-4SP and used configurations with an ER PPC in each arm, and noticed that in some situations (I didn't realize it has to do with direction, I thought it might have to do with the direction of torso twist), firing at a distant target would cause the PPC bolts to go just a little left or right of the reticle, even if both my 'Mech and the target are standing stil. On the HBK-4J I used a config with medium lasers in the right torso and head, and this problem still seemed to occur, though it was not as much of an issue because they were lasers with a shorter range anyway. This still occurred after the 5/21 patch.

Yes I myself tested this issue earlier so I know what to look at. It was nasty. But after yesterday's patch I don't see the issue anymore at least in the training grounds.

I'll check this out later on today Prosperity and get another video cooked up for submission if I'm seeing the issue as well.

This bug was supposed to be fixed in the last patch. Crosshair fluctuations are gone, but discrepancy between aiming point and hit location remains, at least in close quarters. Here are two screenshots from my today's recordings: http://imgur.com/a/5184D

HBK-4G Founder:

If I go below torso downwards twist (extending with the arms), the impact of my right torso mounted ac2 shells land far left, the more down I aim, the more left offset to the reticle I get.

The effect approaches null when arm and torso recticle meet eachother vertically. I tested neither sideways or upwards - if someone likes to verify this?

Edit:
Just tested on HBK-4P - bug not appeared.

Regards,
sveno

Ah, okay so the hands converge wrong if not in the middle of torso reticule. I just tested shooting straight ahead and that works well now unlike before. So the bug is partly squashed,

Confirmed, I recorded a video in a live match to send into support about this. I'm waiting for it to render out right now so I can upload it to Youtube.

EDIT: This appears to affect every mech. If you press your left/right turn keys rapidly you can make the lasers skip around the crosshair very quickly. I have submitted this to support.

I'll verify this in a minute during a match.

EDIT: I couldn't replicate this glitch. I also have not been able to replicate the cardinal direction aiming issue Prosperity.

It's minor now, compared to what it used to be... here's a few screenies that I took with my Swayback, but it generally represents my chassis line. Note now the lasers don't actually miss the reticule anymore, but they do intersect slightly off-center. If I face west, the lasers appear to go a little bit to the right; if I face east, the lasers go slightly to the left; if I face north, the are all perfect. Yuo can measure the arm lasers' intersect points best, I guess, with this particular lot of pics.

On another note, here's a follow up video showing just how ******* insane the reticle skipping is:

I have a ticket submitted and it's already been passed on to the devs so this should get resolved at some point.

I'll play around on my Swayback later today and take some pictures Prosperity. I'm assuming you already have a ticket going?

Mega issues with large lasers in the arms. Anything over 450m has to be Kentucky windage in order to hit. The problem seems to be in the arms itself

I noticed the crosshair was fixed but thought the weapons were still off. Guess I wasn't just hallucinating after all- same issue as the rest are getting.

Yeah, the effects I'm experiencing in the Testing Grounds are mirrored perfectly in the Live Games I've been participating in. The Hunchbacks' reticules are partially fixed. I find myself having best luck with hitscan weapons (LL, ML) still, as I can adjust them after firing.

Glad you guys are on this, been playing a 4p in the hunchback tournament and noticing the lasers all hitting to the side on a regular basis.

By the way, do any of us understand how this works well enough to get why this is happening only on the hunchback? Seems really odd that it would only be taking place on one mech.

I was able to reproduce the bug reported by TOGSolid, the shift of laser focus away from the reticule with rapid turn with the A and D key in many mechs, FWIW.
