Even after the SRM damage nerf I still put up about 700 damage on average in my Centurion-A. After this patch I can safely say that the idiotic changes to the flight paths of SRMS making them spread like an umbrella and cause over 60% of the missiles to miss even within 100 meters is a complete and total joke! I can barely put up 200 damage in a match that I survive all the way through. I may need to test them out more but I sincerely feel like SRMs were beaten with a lead pipe and then kicked right in the gut while they were already down and out. at the very least I no longer feel that they are a viable option and the only "Brawling" mech loadouts (if they can even be called that) are ballistic loadouts or VERY heavy energy oriented laser builds

SRMs were the bread and butter of dueling mech setups and while I agree that they were strong before their damage nerf, they didn't need their flight pattern completely and totally derpified. Does anyone else have any constructive opinions on the matter?

It almost feels like between that, poptarts, and LRMs, PGI is trying to vigorously discourage brawlers from playing MWO at all.

Nothing constructive to say other than I agree with the OP.

I'm seriously hoping that the host state rewind (if it ever ends up getting here) for missiles helps out, but I really can't see it being a major improvement to missile viability

I'm not entirely sure how you can call them even remotely "fine", they were fine before this patch. its streaks that are the problem if you ask me

Wait for missile HSR to be added before commenting about SRM balance. It's a little underwhelming generally because of the hit rate.. which is effectively like the PGI Dartboard of Balance™. It's really inconsistent at best.

Seriously guys get real.
This game is still about brawling, you just have to use some that skill you brawlers are always bragging about.
Jebus what a bunch babies.
I primarily run a missile boat so when a brawler gets in my face I die fast.
So now you brawlers are just gonna have to use some of that vaunted skill you claim to get in my face.
Except now by the time ya make there I'll have a 1/2 a chance fight back.
But more than likely I'm still gonna lose that battle.
I'm not crying about it.

thats honestly how I feel and why I mentioned it, but right now they are definitely in a much worse state than they were before this patch and thats not a good thing at all

you are just slightly ********, its harder to aim SRMs than it is to aim lasers and ballistics at close range. streaks are skilless as hell and are problematic for many reasons but they nerfed SRMs which were in a good spot.

Also, if you're boating a ton of LRMs and have no close range firepower, why should you EVER stand any chance, logically, against a mech designed solely around close-range brawling. I mean, did you even READ what you said before you posted it?

What is a brawler? a mech that uses PPCs instead of ERPPCs?

OH WAIT

SRMs used to hurt people, I forgot.

Now we have snipers and artillery.

The patch notes make mention of some sort of netcode changes, which may be indirectly causing this to occur.

2 volleys of 3 srm 6 to a heavies center torso does very heavy damage, and seems fine to me. Streaks could maybe still use some light tuning.

Naw I just randomly posted it.
Did you really read mine?
Let me break it down for ya.
If you chose long weapons then you're probably weak close in.
If you chose close in weapons you're probably weak long range.
If ya chose all 3 ranges then good at what?
Jack of all trades master of none.
That choice is up to the player.
All I'm saying is we all have to work for a kill now.

I dont even know why I bother coming to these forums. so many ******* tools on here that really shouldn't even be playing this game. anyone saying that brawlers are fine are either delusional or running a PPC/sniper build because its the only viable option now

I don't understand why people get so worked up over this. I run a brawler build and, yes, **** sucks. Between the LRM's, PPC's and the SRM nerf bralwers and not really competative.

So, what of it? This game is a mess in so many ways that expecting any kind of balanced gameplay is just unrealistic. I put in a match or two a day because I love MW and this game is all we have for now. My advice is to go play something else and comeback in a few months.

Welp time to throw the SRMs on the pile next to mgs and flamers. They don't even look cool in flight anymore. They had that at least going for them before the patch.

Maybe it's because I have spent most of my matches in my brawling mech getting pounded by LRMs or fending light mechs away from my team's LRM boats, but ... I don't really see much difference in SRM spread. I have 3xSRM6+A on my AS7-D-DC. Really, they do not seem much different.

I always had trouble hitting opponents > 100m away, because the projectiles are so slow and the brief firing delay; and I still have that problem now. The spread pattern ... I didn't notice a change?

So just to get this straight you came to these forums for validation of an incorrect opinion and when you are told that you are wrong you blame others for having opinions.

Just so you know i run an Atlas D-DC and a CN9-A both are up close brawlers the CN9-A being equipped with a LB10-X 2 ML and 3 SRM4s and the Atlas running LPLs ac/20 and 3SSRMs.

Brawling is far from dead, You just Actually have to be good at it now and cant just SRM boat and call yourself a Brawler.

it's so sad, like watching an old faithful pet whither and die in his final days.

time to put this old dog down I guess.

might as well be called LRM slots
