Besides, I have no idea where people get this idea the Trenchbucket is so big. I look at it standing next to other mechs and have never found it to be very large.

Um, that was true before HSR. Anyone who has issues hitting mechs atm due to speed (unless they're tiny) is being bad at the game, really bad.

Holding a laser on a fast target at 1km is HARD, leading shots likely less so, but still.

And yet this is a game, and certain Mechs need re-sizing for balance. Centurion-Treb Shorter (equalized to Hunchback Height/Width) and Awesome over-all needs to have its width shrunk and modified hitboxes.

thats funny because if they made the cataphract bigger it'd be the size of the atlas.
after all the trebuchet is the size of the awesome. if you want to make anythign bigger than the trebuchet, you are in atlas size range.

On the contrary, mediums need to get smaller.
Both can't take many hits from high alpha builds, but at least the light has the speed and size advantages to maybe have them miss. When you're as large as a heavy, but have far thinner armor, your survivability isn't very high.
