I sympathize. I work for a company where we announced a regular release of product, and then due to poor sales weren't able to afford production at the rate we'd promised. I can't very well go onto our messageboard and say, "Damn, my boss doesn't know what he's doing. He made a schedule we couldn't keep. We screwed up and you won't get your stuff on time. Sorry. Also, he doesn't pay me promptly."

Video game programming is stressful. Deadlines get missed, and internal politics should not be shared with the public. It would be nice, though, if PGI would stop making optimistic promises which they fail to meet. Instead just say, "We're working on this. It'll be ready when it's ready."

Uploading a concept drawing is really not that elusive as programming deadlines. :D

Bryan,
Since I asked the question during the ama, wouldn't let me down, would you?

PGI said in Ask The Devs #38 that they don't plan on crit-splitting for quite a while if ever (I don't remember the exact words), so King Crab is out of the question completely. :D

Just remove the superflous arm actuators. IIRC, the Dual AC/20 would be limited to the torso movement anyway by TT laws.

The Crab and King Crab look rather different from most mechs, I think that would make them very attractive additions to the game. Of course, I'd prefer the King Crab, because Dual AC/20 Assault?! What's not to like!

That isn't an assault. If it were going to be an assault unseen the Battlemaster would be the way to go.

I just hope to come home from work and find that there has been an announcement either way.

I'm low-cost when it comes to expectations. :D

Oh, I know that's not the mech we're going to get next. I'm just talking general principle.

nah, look what they did with the highlander 733c they just take out the actuator but dont change the look of the arms. However, I think it will be Banshee.

I present to you record sheet, the holy of holies, the actuator was already gone, they always make a mech based on a record sheet, if they add the king crab, they will make crit split http://goodsects.got...te/pdf/4859.pdf

That sheet also would mean that it'd have one arm that could move side to side and another that couldn't - something PGI has yet to add and I suspect is reluctant to do so. Arm lock was added because new players were apparently confused by the separate arm and torso reticles. Adding in two separate arm reticles only seems like it would make the problem worse.

I just thought of a really easy way they could have the same effect, but not stray too far from the rules of the game. I am sure the actuator spots are just dummy areas and the way the mech moves is separate from that so they could just move the actuators for the arm/shoulder into the torso. Problem solved.

What's to keep them from treating the king crab like the yen lo wang?
The two separate arm reticle thing, wouldn't you just lock the arm to the torso sights to simplify it?

For E3 I predict the other 5 mechs being revealed, UI 2.0, and DX11.

IF we're good enough we may get the summoner or something as well.

They could have just linked the AC/20 to the torso crosshair. Sure, it would have lost up/down movement range, but call it a "quirk" and be done with it. I suppose their system just can't do such things yet.
