The thread for Sarah was really touching and I hope that we as a community (with the help of PGI and IGP) could do this kind of fundraising for the memory of that little MechWarrior.

I fully support the idea of a Hero Mech for Sarah, and having a portion (if not all) of the proceeds go to the charity in question.

Agreed!!!

It's not a charitable donation - it's a hero mech from a for profit company that is legally required to give a fixed percentage of all revenue to the game engine company. PGI isn't the Red Cross. Your dollars are best spent with a cancer research foundation directly to get the maximum good out of each dollar.

Get as volcanic and emotional as you want. However there are far superior ways to direct your energy and resources. It seems that you are blinded by your own good intentions.

Esplodin, It really is awesome to see how much this means to you. And I am serious, there. You obviously have a lot of passion for this cause.

First, I'm in favor of any kind of memorial to Sarah that PGI is willing to put together. I went with the Jenner idea, but I haven't been turned off by any of the others.

Second, I highly encourage everyone to donate directly to cancer research, as well as many, many other deserving charities and researches. We need cures more than more stuff.

I, personally, would like something sold in game that always, always puts a portion to cancer because it always will provide money to the cause not matter the reasoning behind the purchase. We are all going to purchase the potential mech, colord, plaque, because we want to help and remember Sarah. People buying it 3 years from now, however, may just buy it because it looks nice, or they want the color. That's fine, money still goes to cancer.

So, we get a monument to a very special girl, we get a lot of intentional donations to find a cure, and we have something that will always generate money for the cure, as long as the game runs.

Even if it's not the good you were looking for, isn't it still good?

No matter how this goes, though, thank you for caring as much as you do. You're a good person, and I'm glad to have you in the community.

Jenners make me rage, especially with Streaks. Added to that, my fps can't handle the speed of a light 'Mech.

That said, I'd purchase this in a heartbeat.

The folks that disagree are right with what they're saying, as there are certainly better ways to put money towards a good cause. But if PGI decides to do this, then they'll be great in my book. At the very least, it's heart-warming to see the overwhelming response.

Cheers, lads.

Only a few of you in this thread have a solid grasp on reality.
If hearing about some little girl getting cancer makes you sad enough to 'do something' about it, soend your money on cancer research directly and not on a crappy hero 'mech for faster cashy grabby.

inb4 bandwagoners say:
>NURRRRRRRRR BUT MY GREAT-AUNT'S 3RD COUSIN HAD CANCER or similar
So did my Grandfather. I witnessed the last few hours of his life in writhing agony as I had to vacuum the rapidly accumulating phlegm from his throat so he didn't asphyxiate. I watched him waste away to a near-skeleton from a healthy stock.
We live in the age where nearly everyone has had to deal with cancer in their family. So saying you had it in yours means nothing. Congrats. You're in the majority.
>HURRRRRRRRR YOU'RE EVIL FOR SAYING MEAN THINGS ABOUT THIS GIRL or similar
I didn't know her and I don't know her family. I can't really feel too much sympathy for a (not anymore) private thing when I'm not connected to it in any way. And if you were so altruistic and great, you wouldn't be demanding in-game content that essentially makes a game filled with shrines to dead 5-year-olds for your money.
>DURRRRRRRRR IMA REPORT/EDIT/BAN YOUR POST or similar
Go ahead. I don't actually care what happens to this post. You can all threaten and insult, but opposing viewpoints are bad and must be banned on sight.
You're just being racist against me because I'm Muslim, and any excuse will do.

While I would buy the mech, I also agree that your money is better spent on giving directly to cancer research.
HOWEVER, I urge you to actually research for yourself and find a promising organization. Just because you give to an organization called "Cancer research to save little girls" doesn't mean any of your money will actually go to saving a little girl from cancer. There are overhead costs and organizations that are set up just to make money. Keep your wits about you and your money and time will go much farther.

I'm not even really playing right now and I'd go out of my way to buy it.

Not sure I'd buy it personally - I don't drive lights very well - but I think its a great idea.

I'm sorry for your grandfather. Seriously, I can't ever know what you've been through, and can't pretend to understand.

Please, though, please, try to not mock other people with similarly strong views. This is a sensitive subject for a lot of people, and we all need to try our best to keep this civil.

As I've said, if you want someone to yell at, message me. I'll take anything you want to say, and you'll receive no vengeful acts from me.

Lets be respectful to each other, everybody.

In addition, I'd say that given today's Mech announcement, it'll be cool if Sarah's Mech was to be a Victor.

While the victor is indeed an awesome mech, she liked her Jenners. We're kinda leaning that way. However, nothing is set out yet. We just want something done in her memory.

Thanks for the support, though, dude. Thanks a huge one.

I would definitely drop money on that... and I do not even pilot my Founders Jenner all that much.

Yes I will buy this mech.

Even better, IMO, is if and when this happens, there should be a weekend tourney in her memory. Lights vs Cancer weekend.

zraven what would you do with her mech? Prolly cap!! :D

Seriously though, like I've already said, I'd buy one even though I'm a medium/assualt pilot. Once you get to a certain age it's almost inevitable your life will be touched, one way or another, by this c**t of a disease. I already donate to research on a monthly basis and my change at the supermarket goes to hospices but this would be a great thing to happen for 5 year old female Mechwarrior.

Come on PGI, she's beyond cool. Immortalise her. Let her tear the rear armour off us from beyond the grave.

This thread wins the internet.

A virtual war machine designed to kill virtual people made in effigy of a little girl that died of cancer. This kind of stuff always brings a tear to my eyes.

Think of the children! (GET 'EM GOOD!)
