Yup, because that's what we need... another mech.

Don't bother fixing:

Matchmaking
HUD glitches
Disconnects
Crash to Desktops
SRMs
Poptarting
Completely broken heatscale leading to 6 ERPPC boats
Splash (that shouldn't have been in the game to begin with)

Nope... just give us a new mech. Because that's what we need. So what if we can't play it, at least it looks cool in our mech bay.

Everything you mentioned has been fixed or is being fixed.

I'm looking forward to the Victor :)

I do like the designs PGI does on old mechs..

that being said.. you better not touch a lot of the iconic clan mechs dammit!.

What's so special about the Banshee ? Is it the 95 ton weight ? The medium bracket is still missing a 55 ton mech and I don't hear the uproar over it. We have 3 mechs at 50 tons so what if we have 2 at 80 ?

It can't be the Banshee"s loadout that would make it stand out... it would be ErPPC/Gauss like everything else. See what I'm getting at ?

One more thing guys, please please please spend more time on polishing new mechs before launching them. Polishing as in better texture/model quality, better animation in walking etc. From my observation while the Highlander is a good model, it's animation is quite clunky unlike the first few released battlemechs named Atlas and the others.. Cheers

I agree, the mechs should have good animations. I like the way the Highlander looks, but the walk/run animations are not for me. I did just think of it as, 'it's an very old SLDF mech so it should move like our robots today.' In a word 'clunky.' I just hope few mechs follow in the Highlander's walk/run animation style.

I look forward to the Victor. It's a niche assault mech that I think will fit for me. I'd like to run in an assault mech, but I play better in faster mechs. The Victor is likely going to run around 85kph max, with speed tweak, assuming we don't get a variant with a bigger engine. Plus, it will have jump jets. If the way the dev team handled the Cicada holds for the Victor, players will have their assault ballistic boat. As a Dragon pilot, the Victor, I think, will be the mech that lets me play in the assault class effectively.

Well, it's either let the MWO art team have their way with those "iconic Clan 'Mechs", ot not having those self-same "iconic Clan 'Mechs" not be in the game at all. :)
(And recall, the game the Devs originally wanted to make was set around 3015, long before the Clan invasion and with virtually no chance of seeing those "iconic Clan 'Mechs" (or any of the various LosTech goodies that many take for granted) at all...)

Iconic is a subjective thing.

Not really. I think everyone familiar with the lore views the Dragon as a DC mech, the Jagermech as a FedSuns mech, the Zeus as a Steiner mech, and the Raven as a Liao mech. I don't see it as subjective at all. If a mech is manufactured in only one nation, makes up a large portion of it's mechs in that nations armies and much less in other nations, than it's pretty iconic.

I should put this as this is just my personal opinion:
Victor has always been looked down on the paper for having insignificant firepower even compared to for example, just the standard Hunchback 4G. People I grew up with back in the day didn't like it too much, it was "just an overweight Hunchback with a lot of ammo to blow up with, without any proper punch".

- But to me... This was the machine that Victor Steiner used in the Trial by Refusal to punch to the face at the Clanners, with "just one AC/20" to fight with(and the other side-arms).
- He stopped the clan invasion basically with this machine. To me this showed, that even with an "insignificant loadout on the paper", you can do miracles. Just as it is in real-life, just as it was in Battletech. Victor epitomizes to me a warmachine that stands above all others ever since my youth in the early 90's, to this very day.

No matter how bad the situation might be, you can make the difference if you believe in yourself, and the machine you work with. I intend to do this even in MWO, as I have done it on the tabletop, and in real life.

Uhh, I never heard a Victor looked down upon in this manner. It's one of the best, if not the very best backstabber's in the original batch of mech from that era. (TRO 3025). Usually kept it in cover till in close, waited for won initiative, jumped behind the biggest mech within range, blew up a back torso panel (ideally) with the AC-20, fired the SRM-4 and med lasers in after that in order to maximize on the damage done (ideally kill the target), then jumped out of harms way the next turn. It was a very well regarded mech in TT. Everyone I ever played with knew it's purpose, and used it when they could... As for Victor Steiner-Davion's exploits on the battlefield. He was the protagonist in a lot of poorly written stories. I just view them as wartime propaganda with perhaps a bit of truth, but largely ignoring the actions of others. VSD was ridiculously lucky.

Each of the timeline appropriate Victor variants (including the Victor Li) has the same 4/6/4 BattleTech movement profile, which indicates that all of them come stock with a 320-rated Engine.

With the engine power rating for Assault 'Mechs being limited to 1.2x the stock rating, the Victor's engine cap would be 385 (1.2 * 320 = 384, round up to 385), which would give it a baseline maximum speed of 77.96 kph.
With the 10% bonus from Speed Tweak, this would increase to 85.76 kph.

- I should add, that my friends were big fans of Warhammer, Marauder, Madcat(once the Clans came), Atlas, who wielded them regularly in some form all of them. I did the same tactics with my Victor as you, after which it got its "knack for reputation so well for".

Still people around me kind of looked down upon it, making suggestions to change the AC/20 for Gauss Rifle, as per newer variants than the "standard 3025" edition. I countered that it would ruin the soul of the machine completely, while others marked that: "it's just not quite an Assault mech firepower-wise(time and time again); very close to the stock Hunchback".

But I sticked with the original plan of wrecking havoc from the skies, while others supported in their own role.

- Victor had always been the Lance Commander for me, even if more suitable assaults were present. Well put otherwise, I have no counter!

I'm not looking for another bland jumping mech, the ignorance of some people complaining about fixing things. Companies don't have one person or group fixing everything, there are different groups all responsible for putting out content. Mostly all the mechs are done and are being slowly released to encourage constant attention. This isn't your house harmassassin, where your to-do list keeps piling up as you play a game.

Well, I've been thinking about that.
I might try a Bushwacker, but I'd be more interested in a Dervish or Shadow Hawk.

So, about that...

"At the start of his AFFC career, Victor piloted his namesake 'Mech, a Victor, which he used through the Battle of Twycross. He later received a Daishi OmniMech from Jaime Wolf, and he piloted this 'Mech throughout the rest of his career and into the J***d."
(source)

"Prometheus - The preferred configuration of Archon-Prince Victor Ian Steiner-Davion, the Prometheus configuration carries a blistering array of weapons that increases its damage potential as it closes range. The primary long range weapons are a pair of ER Large Lasers supported by three Large Pulse Lasers. For close combat, an Ultra Autocannon/20 and a SRM-6 launcher are carried."
(source)

In the interests of accuracy and correctness: when Victor and co. were kicking in the Clans' collective teeth, Victor was at the helm of his personal Daishi, "Prometheus" (which he received as a gift from the Wolf's Dragoons during the summit on Outreach in late-3050/early-3051).
(Though, it should also be noted that Victor personally dealt the deathblow to the Clan invasion, by beheading ilKhan Lincoln Osis with a katana...)

They have never introduced an "unseen" mech into the game, so the chances of see a MAD series is slim unless they announce something dramatic.

And the Victor HERO mech is...
  • Victor Li - The custom Victor used by Tai-sho Li Dok To in the Fourth Succession War, this variant removed all the standard weapons and replaced them with a single LRM-15 and ten Medium Lasers. Armor and movement profiles remained unchanged, but it carried a total of nineteen heat sinks. BV (2.0) = 1,625[17]
Boat ALL the Lasers!!!
