Am I the only one who thinks this would be a great idea?

Would love to see the list of achievements to go with it too

Many people hate Steam... but I don't. I think it is very good and I would love to see MW:O using it, though I know this won't happen. :)

Why not? Star Trek: Online is also Free To Play now and distributed over Steam as well.

Why would someone hate steam? Never heard of any complaints about steam

I'm a big fan of steam and MW. MW was the very first game I ever played.in my entire life. MechWarrior2 on playstation

I used to hate steam, of course, that was back when it first came out...in the 56k days. It was clunky and obnoxious. Then when DSL and Cable modems became commonplace...it quickly became a non-issue >: p

Spooky achievements make things interesting. gives you a little thing to work towards in a game.

Of course I'm curious about the mechs they put out, gameplay, gameplay modes, premium prices, ect.

I figure once we look at the gameplay we could give suggestions as t many of those additions

Well back in teh days when Steam was new... it was a bit ****** in perfomance, support and sometimes you had 1kb/s speeds only... But today I think steam is a well developed protection and distribution Platform.

and most important of all!!!

STEAM DOES NOT WANT ALL YOU PERSONAL INFORMATION!!

and in EU you can even pay with prepayd cards, without you giving away your adress & so on.

I like Steam...but I really miss the old Gametap, before Turner sold it to that crappy french outfit , who abruptly gutted it and made it just horrible.

Achievements are rarely truly something you have to "work" towards in a game. And even when they are, there is too much ******** about it, because people don't understand the concept and think they have to grind for it.

And even if you want them in MW:O, wouldn't you rather have them in the game itself, rather than just via Steam?

Why does it need to be on steam? I don't really see the point of that. You don't need to be in Steam for your game to have earnable achievements.

I don't like Steam, I'm happy when game running by it's own without any third side apps.

I couldn't care less about achievements that mean nothing. I play games for fun, not for a little window popping up saying I did something meaningless. But achievements like medals in game for stupendous acts yeah it adds a bit, but all that should be handled in the game itself, not through a third party app.

I don't mind steam, most of my games are on steam, I just go that route because it's convenient and cheap if I get games on sale, I'd prefer not having to deal with it if I don't have to, and aside from the advertising value it doesn't make sense to have steam distribute this game.

Also since we are the topic of achievements, one thing I will give World of Tanks is that their achievements actually mean something. You can't just grind them out, you need to actually have a little bit of skill to earn most of them. Much better then the pointless 360 style achievements.

I don't really care about the achievements but I do think that steam offers a whole bunch of benefits in terms of exposure. All our friends will see when we play this game and maybe end up trying it themselves, resulting in friends of friends hearing/seeing about the game and so on.

couldnt hurt to ask valve, i see alot of ftp mmos on steam now, so some cool achieves/steam pr would boost player base of mwo for sure. more players more possible payers, more payers more profit!

A friend on my steam list actually booted up his game the other day and All i saw was a Little box popup that said

"RandomFriend51 is now playing Mechwarrior:Online"

I was super jealous. Steam would definitely jump PR by a massive amount. The only remaining questions is; what does Steam get in return? Thats the decision developers and publishers and Steam have to make.

I don't care about achievements but Steam is an excellent delivery method - far better than the awkward download accelerators I have been forced to use with other titles (I'm looking at you Lotro and your stupid Pando-crapola).

Steam is great as a content-delivery service; Fast, auto-updates your game for you when there is a patch, friends list and built-in voice chat.

Also great for bringing the game to a broader market who may never have heard of the game otherwise.

The only thing stopping them from offering it on steam is..talking to valve. Steam has plenty of F2P games already.

I wonder how steam makes money off of that though.
