I want to Suggest possibly making some Fun Modules that can be purchased for MC-only, and have no real combat functions. This would be purely a cash-cow for PGI and give us a chance to LoL heartily on the battlefield.

These would not require any GXP or C-Bills to unlock; they would be already "unlocked" in the pilot tree and require MC to make a 1-time purchase from the Mechlab (they would not be consumed on use). They would have to be equipped in a Module Slot to have an effect in-game, though. This would be a way for users to make some use of empty Module slots when we don't have enough actual Modules, or just for kicks when we want to. Some of my suggestions would include:
  • Mech ID Module - Allows users to see the name that an enemy pilot has given to their Mech after getting a target lock and gathering the enemy's Mech Info.
  • Paintball Module - causes all weapons fire to leave paint splotches behind instead of/in addition to the visual battle scarring effects.
  • Explosion Module - Make all explosions appear visually magnified 3X, add massive fireballs to component destructions (but cause no change in actual damage/splash radius)
  • Stackpole Module - Causes your own Mech to explode catastrophically into massive a conflagration upon death for the whole world to behold (without causing any damage to nearby Mechs, of course)
Does anyone else have a Fun Module suggestion? Please remember, for this thread, a "Fun Module" can't help you in combat, but it would be amusing enough to buy with MC. If you'd like to suggest Combat Modules, then please do so in a different Suggestions Thread. ThAAAAaaanks :)

Some Additional Ideas, sourced from the People:

Music Module - Similar to Highlander's effect, but different riff (perhaps the GDC 2012 Gameplay Trailer riff?)

JumpJet Exhaust Module - Change the size/color of your JJ's to make yourself look like a Delta IV taking off...

Rainbow Lasers - think of how much Brony cash that'd pull in!

Paul Inouye Voice Pack - to replace Betty, kind of like adding a depressing version of Marvin the robot.

A fun module? If you're a glutton for punishment, you could always suggest a module that makes all the on-screen alerts more conspicuous.

INCOMING MISSILES. BETTER GET TO COVER, BRO.
CRITICAL DAMAGE. SUGGESTION: DON'T GET SHOT.

Changing out Bitchin' Betty for Microsoft Sam might be amusing too as a prank too.

This isn't a thing because of the greater headache associated with policing mech names on top of player names. For example, half of my mechs are named ********ing****er or something to that effect because it amuses me and nobody else ever has to worry about it.

I wouldn't mind a for-fun module that does what the Heavy Metal Highlander does -- lets you play some taunting music!

Some more:
  • Change the jj flame colour and size.
  • Put a flag (or other decoration) on your 'mech (choose location; arm, side torso, head).
  • Change the hit glow colour you see.
  • Change the heat and night vision colours (not the effects, obviously).

This is a great idea, I'd definitely be interested in this. The only thing is that they'd need to be unobtrusive for the other players as they could become trolling tools and immersion destroying.

Aside from that though I'd definitely spend MC on things like this!

Interesting ideas..... I`d like to see a few of them implemented, but TBH not until CW and all balancing are completed :)

Most definitely. I think the way a Fun Module would work would have to be non-disruptive to the other players, but it doesn't have to be completely benign, either. For instance, a Stackpole Module that makes your Mech explode into a massive fireball that deals 0 damage would be observable to the other players, but wouldn't really disrupt the match or affect combat. In another case, my suggested Explosions Module would make all the explosions look bigger on your client, only, and the effects would not be visible by others at all.

Yeah, this would be a longer-term project for after CW...

Come on, more ideas !
