this happens nearly every game.

the missiles hit my mech but my internals are the ones to receive the damage, leaving my armor intact!!
then i have armor for brawling but no internals... what's going on here?

Are you sure your back armor isn't taking damage? If you have no back armor (or 0 armor in parts of your mech), and it is taking damage from splash, it will effectively give a direct route to your internals.

It's a normal feature of Missiles. Some call it crit-seekers, some call it spread damage. It functions as an alternate damage type compared to lasers and ballistics armor damage. Also the more armor damage you take the greater the likelyhood of a critical hit.

I never read in any statement by the devs that missiles do have a through armor crit chance. Please link proof.
Misperception, a bug or an undocumented feature... which will it be?

Nope, this is wrong.
Nothing damages your internals if you have armor on that section!
You might get internal damage if:
1. Your armor on that section front/back is 0 and get hit there.
2. You override your overheat shutdown and take internal damage to random sections
3. You take a crit to ammo/gauss and the explosion goes from your section to the nearest torso side to the center torso.
Thats it.
