Ive been trying to get LRMs to work for me since the hotfix and they just dont.

I fired 900 lrms in 60 missile volleys on targets IN THE OPEN moving at no more than 50 kph and did 388 damage. That is with artemis and tag and line of sight.

While my alpha should do 54 damage (.9*60) a good 20-40% of the missiles hit the ground or otherwise miss their target.

As a reciver I have also instantly dropped AMS back off my mechs and dont worry at all about LRMs as they are nothing compared to the quickly returning poptarts.

Have you played a LRM boat since the hotfix? Were you able to do "well" on LRMs alone?
Discuss!

I'm still doing ok. Well, if the target stand still, it would be easier to kill them, as long as they move a bit, that where the hard part start.

People wont be happy unless you can core an Atlas in 2 volleys. LRMs are viable now. I ran in a stalker LRM boat for quite a few matches yesterday and did great. Of course, I took a friend with me in a light mech as a spotter. There have also been a few rounds where I was stupid enough to get exposed in a light or heavy mech and was trashed by LRMs.

If you can't do well with them they way they are, then don't use missiles, cause you obviously don't know what you're doing with them.

So in order to do well you had to boat the living **** out of them? You're right, working as intended.

MW balance for you.

If a single weapon is performing good, the mech boating it is OP.
If the mech boating it is performing good, the single weapon version is UP.

There is no middle ground.

I had similar expirience today, only i was piloting light mech in PUG match on Canyons. I suprised 2 enemy Stalkers, targeted one of them and started fighting and then missiles started pwning the poor guy from our Stalker lrm boat. He died after 3-4 volleys and with my help of course. Then i switched to second Stalker and same thing happened. Lrms are very viable now, especially for premade groups who actually comunicate, unlike we did in that match. Lrms are getting closer to what they should be (they should not be 2 hit kill weapons). Now more pressing matter is ridiciolous boating and poptarting. With every patch we are getting closer to more balanced game.

I played with 0.7 dmg and without advanced trajectory, and have enough kill's and dmg.

Do you guys see the trend here. It's the stalker lrm boat that is op not lrms. Lrm's are up no op. But when boated in 60+ they become exponentially more powerful. Balancing the weapons instead of the boating is very bad balancing

They're being used again because they don't take 10 seconds to get to the target...

2 to get them from "worthless" to "ruling the battlefield", yeah that makes it so much more reasonable and believeable, doesn't it?

If lrms are ruling your battlefield your doing something wrong.

you need to dedicate 7 tons plus ammo to 1 LRM 15. you need 10 tons for 1 LRM 20. Then you need artemis on top of that, more crit slots and wieght to actually do any kind of viable damage.

you only need 7 tons for an ERPPC that puts all it's damage where you shoot almost instantly.

Obviously LRMS need to do enough damage to justify their tonnage and ammo needs, and right now since the hotfix they don't. The tracking is fine, IF the damage where doubled the tracking could even be nurfed more, this may be the best way to keep them as flushing/over cover guns that counter pop-sniping, but until boating penalties are in place 4 lrm 15 mechs will be a major issue that needs some addressing.

If LRMS where even just a little more dodgeable they could afford to hit a lot harder. I didnt have issues with the LRMS before the hotfix, now they are back to useless again, though I'm glad the trajectory was adjusted the splash and damage loss kinda sucks, the game was definitely more fun pre-hotfix, now it's mostly the same old fare, pop-snipers galor.

I cant wait to hear the screams of anguish when the jumping penalites hit.

since the patch i've seen a lot more lrms being used by everyone (PUGging anyway). during the nerf it was actually a surprise to see LRMs flying through the air. Betty only bothered telling me about incoming missiles after the streaks hit me :) now every match has had a couple on each side. i even tried tossing a couple on my worst trebbie to see if that helped me any when playing it. don;t die as quickly at least now only played a handful of matches with it though cause you know...worst trebbie and all
