See you take that wrong.

The thing is, to effectively use LRM's, you need to not only be good with them yourself....you need to use strategy to beat your opponent as well.

It's why I always thought my Centurion was better with LRM's than an assault. I used my speed to move into positions and make use of my LRM's properly.

It wasn't about standing in one place. I moved a ton, strafing while holding a TAG lasers to put my missiles into an ECM mech.

That's still harder than ANY other weapon. I don't see how anyone can say that shooting a PPC is harder than moving 98kph, holding a laser on a target for 3-4 seconds, while making sure neither you nor your target break LOS.

The problem is, there gets to be a point where players are so good and LRM's are such a pain in the *** to use PLUS have so many counters (ECM/AMS/Missile Warning/LOS Breaks/Cover), that you might as well stop bringing them.

No other weapon is like that.

Everyone here, pro-LRM and anti-LRM only mention the cases that support their point of view.
To the no-skill charge, people reply "Yes but in my 2xLRM 5 medium mech I have to bust my a** to do some damage, l2p". You know what? I agree with you, it takes loads of skill to be useful in such a situation. What the anti-LRM side opposes, as far as skill is concerned is the following, well known scenario:
Assault mech or full LRM Catapult, parked at around 800m from anything else. Their game goes like this:
Blink blink!
Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh!
*wait 5 seconds
Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh!
*wait 5 seconds
Blink blink!
Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh!
Lurmerdude has killed Otherdude.

Rinse and repeat.
Now you go spectate 50 matches and honestly tell me which case is more prevalent, your hard working LRM Centurion or the guy who can play with one hand.

I've covered both groups.

Here is the problem.

For me to load up 3 LRM 20's in my highlander and stand in one spot, while being effective, one of two things would need to happen.

One is a guy spotting for me purposely. Which means it would take 2 mechs working together to make LRM's work.

The other is for the other team to completely ignore me (meaning no one comes to kill me, because within 180m I'm gonna have 1 large laser or a few mediums to defend myself. Best case if it's a Stalker they might be ok against a medium or light mech with some streaks/mlasers.

And if they completely ignore me, and stay out in the open, yes I can kill them.

Know what? I can do that with any weapon. I just watched a match where our Awesome with 2 Larger Lasers and 2 PPC's stood about 500m away and CARVED up the other team while they tried to kill our 3 lights.

You can do that with any weapon. And honestly, PPC's are better at it than LRM's anyway.

So yes IF YOU OPPONENT IS TERRIBLE LRMS ARE GOOD.

Should be balance things based on uber terrible people who refuse to take AMS, refuse to stand near ECM, refuse to take cover, refuse to heed the missile warning, refuse to torso twist the damage, refuse to engage the LRM mech, etc. etc. etc.?

No, we shouldn't.

LRMs 'suck so badly' right now, and yet my Jenner can still be completely obliterated in two volleys while I'm in what used to be cover on River City. Not good enough, right? It should be only one volley, right?

Heck, why not skip straight on through the intermediate steps! Why not make it *really* simple and have your target simply explode when you establish lock?

There's really no way else to put this: Nothing is ever going to satisfy you sad little people. Please go play some other game.

Why the hell are you standing still in a Jenner?

For TWO volleys?

I play a Jenner - and I don't even pay attention to LRMs. No reason to. I take a volley of 40 to my back and I have orange rear armor. Wooo! Scary! *rolls eyes*

I get better damage and more kills in my Jenner Seven-Foxtrot than in my Catapult Charlie-Four with 40 LRMs after dumping 8 tons of ammo into the enemy with at least 60% accuracy.

I've sat and danced around a mech that was getting hammered by salvo after salvo of my team's missiles. If I hadn't been dumping lasers into the thing the entire time, it would have taken at least 12 total salvos of 30-40 missiles to bring that cataphract down.

That's ridiculous. You can't even play effectively in the support (strategic) role. You have to blow most of your ammo (in a design dedicated to the LRM role) just to 'soften the target up.'

Let alone the tactical role that I used to love. I used to love taking my faster-than-average kitty on a wide flank and tearing into the exposed flank of my enemy's main line, or ravaging one of their support mechs while his allies seemed to forget their fire support was missing.

I can kill any mech with my Jenner about twice as fast as it takes with my catapult.

I'm going to say it - learn to play, noob.

You do know there are decaffeinated brands that are just as tasty as the real thing, right?

First, I'll charitably assume English is not your first language. You should look up what the word "can" means and implies; it's an important part of comprehension.

Second, if we're going to waggle e-peens at each other, my three Jenners were Mastered a long time ago. And I did it on my F with six small lasers only. Never liked the heat management involved with mediums on the F (though I have recently started to experiment with having two of them, just to increase the range a bit).

Finally, even the best players will get caught out sometimes.

Not you, of course. No indeed! I hope some day I drop with you on my team. It'd be a nice change of pace having someone with me in a PUG who has never, ever been killed.
