Over the weekend I head shot 4 Catapults. They all decided to stand there and let me zoom in on their head. Catapult has insane good torso twist. If I am standing there looking at you, you should probably twist. The number of times I have been head shot in my C1, C4, and K2 is pretty small.

Catapults have torso twist equivalent to every other armless mech. Making the rest of your statement questionable at best.

They definitely need a tweak, if I see catapults on the field I will wade through 7 other mechs just get that headshot on the catapult, you cannot miss.

Catapult is perfectly fine as is. The large Head hitbox compensates for the very small side torso front profiles.

So they are fine because you can't shoot out the side torsos easily?
But a headshot is a cakewalk from every angle but rear?

Why may I ask would you even try to deplete the superior armor of the side torso if the head is easyer to hit and has less than half the armor value?

After reading and posting in this thread I load up and did some drops I decided I would only headshot catapults.

With the exception of one streakcat pilot that spent most of the battle in the air I killed 7 catapults with headshots of 14 games that included enemy catapults.I was piloting a twin AC20 Jaeger at the time so out of the 8 Catapults I engaged I killed 7 with headshots .4 were the only trigger pull I used on them 3 took multiple tries up to three shots (they knew to jump around and turn but it still resulted in cockpit kills) The streakcat killed me (probably due to me trying to headshot a jumper rather than just core em out)

My conclusion is post Hit State Rewind the Catapult head hitbox IS to large and needs a reduction.

Have you tried aiming at the side of the head? Every panel of cockpit glass is head on a catapult even the side panels. So in order to survive combat a catapult can never risk facing an enemy so the fix is catapults need rear weapons?

It's definitely a problem. I don't even pilot my Cats much anymore, but I find them to be almost free kills in my Stalker, Highlander, or Cataphract. The head is definitely very, very easy to hit. The number of one-shot kills I get on them is disproportionately higher than for any other mechs, including lights. If you're not getting headshot kills on them, you're not aiming very efficiently.

I love the Catapult chassis, but they're definitely too vulnerable for a heavy.

I am perfectly willing to bear this burden for the benefit of Inner Sphere as long as the rumored Giant Forest Lupine has the cockpit hitbox faithful to the model.

So despite that I just completed the elites and master on my K2 and in all that time died once to a headshot (and that after overheating). I must have missed you during that run because everyone shooting at my head most definitely could miss.

I do get head shot more than normal (well more so than in other mechs) in my Cats, but I wouldn't go as far as to claim they weren't viable.

I still have pretty good luck in my K2 or C1.

Would I like to see a smaller head hitbox, yes. Do I need to have a smaller head hitbox to feel effective, no.

Buff SRMs back to the great weapon they once were

no more problem

Missile slots used to be the best backup slots now they are wasted space

so obviously the pult suffers

I remember seeing 2PPC 2Mlas 2SRM6 cats that wrecked at all ranges

especially at like 125m

Yes the cockpit of a CAT does get hit comparably often in a fight - but it actually helps the cat to survive a lot longer most of the time since this dmg would have otherwise been aplied to the CT.

You may suffer lucky shots by high alpha pinpont builds but lets face it: - either you should reconsider your movement patterns or they were just lucky shots(oh sorry, exceptional sniperskill that is^^).
EIther way it´s pinpoint alphas that are to blame again, not cockpitsize.

Side panels are much smaller. It's easier to aim dead center in the front just above the nose to cockpit it.

The Catapults headbox is broken now after last patch. Too easy to cause damage to it now for whatever bugged out reason. If all you ever pilot is a Catapult, you will know that despite the headbox always being an easy target, after the last patch, it has become abnormally way too easy to incur damage to the headbox.

I have never died this many times due to loss of all cockpit armor since last patch.

Others are reporting it as well. See here http://mwomercs.com/...tapult-cockpit/

This certainly feels the case. I was always a believer that the head hitbox is fine, despite the A-1 being my absolute favorite mech. However, after the last patch and missile fix, I have noticed three things:

1.) I'm getting 1-2 shotted in the cockpit MUCH more often than before, despite playing in the same manner.
2.) LRMs feel fairly anemic again and not doing much damage (still to CT but still....).
3.) SRM flight path now not only looks ugly, but SRMs don't have the stopping power. I was fine with the damage nerf we've had for the past 1-2 months, but with the new flight path....worthless. My A-1 was doing fine but now my killing power has drastically dropped.

More than anything I think missiles are still not in a good place. They seem to be on a pendulum between being the FIST OF GOD and being spitballs. That and the cat cockpit has had something change.

Its worse than you think.

A teammate was fighting a catapult close range. The catapult was faced 90° away from me. I aimed 4 PPCs for the cockpit and boom-headshot. I nailed that sucker even when he was faced the opposite way.

Cats do just fine. Learn to torso twist please. (I mainly play a Jager so I know all about head shots)
