Going water with 1-2 units can pay dividends with some ranged mechs. But yeah, going water with the whole team is just as stupid as it sounds.

If only the water had electrolytes, that's what mechs crave

Send one lance water and one by the edge in Forest by the hills. If you can quickly make it to the drop ship, you can usually goad the other team into coming directly across the water, thinking you're all there.

Everyone is still using SHS... I mean Bryan or Paul's personal K2 uses them, so it must be good!

I find the whole team rushing Theta on Frozen city conquest to be a lot worse.

"Hey, guys, instead of fighting the enemy in the city (because that's where they are 9 times out of 10), let's go Theta so we can get gunned down when the other team reaches the cliff's edge."

I love that, I just go to the cliff and wait. You can pick 'em off pretty quickly.

If you don't go water you get surrounded on 3 sides and get murdered 5 minutes later instead. Or they all walk straight to your base along the shoreline.

Anyone that types 'Don't go water' at the start of a match should be TK'd for being a dumbass.

Sorry but I disagree, Ive been in many a team that win by going in the water, in fact even if my team don't go water, I still do, its great for sniping

He said it twice. It's legit.

(It's also great for being pinned down from land while some jerk light captures your base and forces you to either go for the enemy base (through the open water) or try and defend your own base (through the open water.)

The water works fairly well since they added the ship, too.

In general it's a bad idea, but it's a particularly bad idea when spawning on the west side of the map. East at least has some cover by the ship which is closer to them. If both teams go water, east side usually wins.

Having 1-2 snipers down the water edge on west to contain any water rush and give fire support can be effective at times though.

I agree about the west side; however I don't think it's a horrible idea East side, in particular if it's just a flank that goes that way.

I remember when the water used to be absolutely stupid and a total death trap. I'm glad PGI responded to the community and added that ship in there, it totally changed how it works.

Imo, going water works if you can hit a moving target more than 600m out without standing still..........If not, it's a death trap. I think the viability of that route is determined by individual pilot skill. ijs

I don't like upgrading mechs that I plan on selling after mastering a chassis, so I go swimming quite a bit. ;)

SHS performance aside, I think it's a pretty neat feature.
