So, I know this only marks me for ridicule, but why are people bringing the COD/BF attitudes into my mechwarrior online?

Yes, I know it's extremely rude of me to call it mine. It's everyone's. And maybe I just remember about 15 years ago too fondly, back before everyone's children could get on the web, when asking to use mommy and daddy's credit card was pretty much unheard of. But to hear the following phrases coming over the chat from people... I dunno. I just don't get the whole 'troll' mindset. What are these people getting out of being sheer douches? Do they just not feel like ******** afterwards? 'Oh, boy! I really told that guy thousands of miles from me. He's such a dipshit because I'm better than him and can poptart. Now noone will mess with me, ever. ' Do people really think like that?

Chat messages:

'Only faggots use lrms. l2p'
'Only noobs use catapults'
'**** ******, u can't shoot'

And I guess I got off easy, cause at least the trolls I got could spell.

Seriously, when does the stupid train leave the internet? This has been a thing for like 10 years now. Can it just end please and people start having ******* manners online?

And in retrospect, I can understand a little smack talking. But this ain't talking smack, and frankly, it's unnecessary here, too. This ain't COD, if that's what you want, go play it. Preferably on XBL so I don't have to listen to your 14 year old punk *** talking crap to people twice your age who'd beat you in a straight up fight.

Friend:

I agree. People are terrible.

they say and do terrible things to eachother,

and that is never going to change.

Thicker skin

and a positive attitude

to provide a good example

are all we can do.

Agreed. It's kind of annoying when you are a veteran mechwarrior.

I have been playing every Mechwarrior since the first. I used to play MW2: Mercs non-stop, and spent so many hours in MW4 is not even funny, and then you get the l33t p0wn3r kids telling you that you are a LRM noob.
Even the term "noob" already makes me cringe for its own stupidity. It's supposed to be like, a mortal offence. Those ******* freebirths calling people "noob".

Unfortunately, you're witnessing the downfall of the art of trolling. Trolling used to be using subtlety to draw people into an argument without them knowing they were being manipulated into said argument. Now it's become people just slinging insults and racism in an attempt to be "edgy". In my opinion, the best trolls don't even use an insult, and speak only the truth...having said that, hyperbole can be fun to use :)

So yea, it's just "gamers" (and I'm using that term in the loosest possible sense of the word) with a superiority complex and mommy/daddy issues. No class, no sportsmanship, no subtlety, just hurt butts.
