I get the feeling that MWO support staff doesn't really want to be bothered with this inconvenient issue. However, I did want to thank the person who suggested that I try a Cradlepoint router for my USB 3G/4G wireless modem. I bought the MBR95 and it worked perfectly right out of the box. There are issues that MWO is ignoring regarding the games dependencies on the Dotnet platform and Internet Explorer. I must say I am very disappointed in their willingness to take my money but leave me to swing. Regardless, if someone has a similar issue this worked perfectly for me. I will either be blocked from responding to this post or the post will be deleted. GL in getting any love from MWO Support.

If you have Windows Live, try reinstalling it. Not repairing it, but reinstalling it. I recently had the issue that no third party program was able to connect properly, despite actually having IE and Chrome both working to connect.
Because it was affecting my email, I was able to trace the problem to Windows Live; a reinstall of Windows Live (do NOT uninstall it first) fixed the problem and the third party programs were able to connect to the internet again.

Fried, glad you got it working. I am posting a thread below about someone who was having a similar issue, it would not work through the router but through the modem. He was also told to get new stuff but he was able to locate a resolution.
Router Blocking Mwo
As for the dot4 and IE, think about it. How exactly does a router affect those two, with relationship to preventing you from visiting sites?
With that said, I am including the links from your other posts, as they can be used for troubleshooting.
Does Mwo Support Actually Mean They Care?

For myself, it was not a "Router Issue". I did not have a router. For me it was how windows does its' own routing. MWO, Windows Live Messenger, Skype, HP Update Software and Windows Native Update Connection Program, I have no idea what it is really called, but it is the program that will dl updates for a new windows install when you use the disc while running an older install of windows, all connect to the network in a similar way. However those programs use the network is what was being blocked by my computer. This caused MWO to return the error message,"There was an error while testing your internet connection - no connection was detected.". I pointed the finger at DotNet because repairing the Dotnet installation would temporarily solve the issue. As Talbot suggested though, unplugging and replugging the USB wireless modem would also temporarily solve the issue. Unfortunately a Windows Patch totally eliminated those temporary solutions, as did installing IE10. IE9 and IE8 would resolve the issue when it was just caused by IE10. But as stated before a Windows Update totally closed the solution. And no restoring to previous states or rolling IE back to etchesketch would resolve the issue. The issue may be related to how Verizon routes their traffic. I did discover that the IP listed on IPCONFIG /all was not the same IP listed for me on ipchicken. I also figured out that a NAT router works fine through my USB modem. VMware's install with Win XP and MWO would work fine on this same PC while MWO would not work on Win 7 normal. And this new wireless router I bought is also using a NAT router. All that said other "premium games " work fine with my system. Someone needs to understand and be able to speak clearly on networking issues like this. I'm still not a happy customer. But I am still here.
