^McBadman

What the poster is referring to (about JJ's) is basically adding additional features to Jump Jets other than "hover" as they currently do. Yes they added "shake," but that doesn't really add functionality to Jump Jets specifically. They should add things to the game at the same time a small 'fix' is added to address specific issues (like poptarting).

Basically this video (of the best JJ implementation in any Mech game):

^As you can see those JJ's offer more than just a basic "hover" ability, and add more depth to them with various types of strategy for evasion or attacking.

Personally, I am burnt out on the game.... but one big thing I am looking forward to, is weight limits on drops (mentioned in ask the devs). This will fix some of the issues keeping me from enjoying the game.

I swear by Kerensky that I've noticed a new trend among immature gamers: the word "tryhard". It's relevant to MWO because I see it slung around a LOT and I didn't even know it existed until roughly a week or so ago.

I'm trying to wrap my brain around the idea: the lowest most horrible thing you can be is apparently someone who puts effort into something?

Besides bitter tears from former poptarts who can't handle the briefer firing window on the way down from a jump and claim that all skill™ has left the game, that's all I have to report.

Even see it in matches. "This game sux now, tryhards got their way wow gg", that sort of thing.

You know you're quite the ******* trolling piece of worthless garbage you know that. every post you making is degrading other people around you who don't back your narrow minded view of how this game should be. You contribute nothing but ******* people off, you ought to have your forums privileges revoked, forever. always assume because someone doesn't see your POV that they are "Poptarting snipers" I don't snipe, I brawl, my entire team is a brawler group, we're known for it, and I still stand by my statement of removing abilities from the game, adding R.N.G and nerfing everything in site is a good way to end result in a boring *** game.

there are far more ways to balance things than to simply nerf the **** out of it, sorry you're far too ignorant (Or simply don't care and love to troll everyone, which I think it's both.) to understand that concept but hey, whatever floats you're boat, maybe if you spent half as much time playing th game as you did BS'ing this board you might have a bit more of a clue as to what you're on about.

I shall continue to watch your pointless banter and trolling with both pity for you and disgust at the general human condition of stupidity.Have a good day sir :)

stopped playing the game for now. too many broken promises and delays, too much focus on sales. imho they just milking this cow until it topples. launch is in spetember so all they are doing nw is polishing the **** for launch (ui 2.0). none of he other features are even close to complete even though they should be out by now (CW, clans, collisions, dropship mode, master modules, unique pilot trees). im sure theres more but you get the point.
ive just lost all faith in pgi. i had faith in the begining (hence founders tag) but now i dont even have faith in them to complete this game which is why i have stopped playing/spending money. the only reason i check the forums at all now is to see if by some miracle things get done and i can try it out

Putting the seismic sensor in was easier than making a rear view window/mirror in all mechs.

To me the best time of MWO was in the few weeks b4 the ECM introduction.
The matches had a great variety of playstyles bcs Brawling, Sniping, LRMing was all viable.

Since ECM this game is a chaotic cycle of "Denials" and "Hotfixes" that break more the balance than help it.
New Players get a Picture of the Gameplay that is almost irreversible.

Thinking about it, yeah you're right. Games were fantastic back then. PGI's direction with ECM has always perplexed me. Luckily the games player base seems to have grown around that problem (though PGI should have fixed it). ECM was a train wreck when it was launched, that said it could have offered a lot of depth to the game with thoughtful revision (chassis divergence, tactics/team play, role warfare etc). Now we have a legacy of 'hard counters' and rock paper scissors.

I recently took a one month break, but I came back in the last two weeks to get ready for the Orion (yeah... never mind, grinding jagers instead). The game has improved from a technical standpoint; gone are the days of lagshield ravens, and there are slightly less disconnects, and far less crashes from what I can tell.

The meta game on the other hand... frightfully boring. I've been doing some sniping lately with the Jagers, something I've never done before with other mechs, and was excited to finally give gauss rifles a go. Now I would think that a dual gauss build would be fine (a bit derp, but effective). Little did I expect to be comprehensively 'out-sniped'. Seems two gauss builds are conservative these days, large chunks of the player base are rolling with 3/4+ PPC's these days. I've had fun learning to thrive with a new mech in a new ecosystem, but honestly its getting dull now. Variety is, to a large extent, gone.

The other big problem - matchmaker. While I'm not a top player, I wouldn't expect to be getting consistently matched with new players and veterans alike. People in chat asking, 'how long does cadet bonus last?' and then we all go off to fight a pre made of pimped out D-DC's. Alongside this I've notice more founders in games lately. I can only guess less people a playing at the moment, but who knows?

All in all I like the game, but it's hard to keep going when the meta game strangles the life out of what little we have. And it's hard to be inspired by such derpy implementations as seismic sensors. The devs do good work on the whole, but the management/direction seems a bit poor to me. Never setting realistic deadlines, crudely implementing features like ECM, crude solutions to balance issues, determination to pursue things like 3rd person camera despite community reaction and obvious concerns.

Developing a game while fostering an active player base is a big juggling act, but I do wonder if they could do it a little better. Still we will see where we are in another couple of months.

This game would be much better if the devs put the patches more frequently. They would be able to make a better balance from patch to patch. Just my opinion.

I think urbandictionary covers it best:

"1. A face-saving insult used by someone who is feeling inadequate. Basically accuses anyone who is better than them at anything of putting in effort. Doubles as an excuse for sucking by implying lack of effort on the speaker's part.

2. An insult blatantly misused by 13-year-old kiddies in online gaming who, ironically, try very hard to win themselves and take it too seriously when they lose.

3. Someone who tries too hard to fit in. Easy to spot online because of their constant use of trendy internet slang such as "fail", "cool story bro", and "tryhard". (my emphasis)"

It's kind of one of those things like "********" that, the second you see it, you can automatically assume immaturity and hypocrisy on the part of the poster.

Anyway, to answer the question in the OP: bored. And, unfortunately, I'm not exactly feeling confident that the boredom will be going away anytime soon. Balance is getting better but it's still a long way from where it needs to be and there just isn't much of a motivator to play, anymore. I feel like a gerbil in a wheel.

if they actually release 12v12 on July 2nd (1st patch in July according to Bryan's June update) that, at least, will be what I would call a significant feature. At least there will be more epic battles regardless of how one might think things will be balanced for it. More mechs, more weapon fire etc. We have a date for it, which is unlike many other features...IF they keep that date.

I LOVE the game overall and plan on sticking around for a long time. However, there's a few things that really bother me right now; Things that I REALLY want them to address before launch (in order of preference):

1. Integrated VOIP. This game MUST have it if they insist on matching PUGs vs. premades.

I agree. This is desperately needed

Quote

2. More Intuitive Battle Grid. Let's face it; it's unwieldy and confusing...and many players are oblivious to the how it works and what the icons mean even when the grid is used properly. I'm hoping that by time UI 2.0 is introduced they'll have fixed/updated the HUD as well, and make the Battle Grid easier to use and more intuitive.

Not sure what this means. How is it not intuitive? Giant grid that shows all of teammates locations...not exactly rocket science.

Quote

3. C-Bill/XP Penalty for Friendly Fire Damage. Just as you get penalized for killing teammates, you should also get a penalty to your XP and C-Bill rewards at the end of the match proportionate to the amount of damage you inflicted on friendly targets. Accidental friendly fire is inevitable, but I think way too many players are reckless with their ordnance and intentionally fire when they clearly don't have a clean shot, damaging their teammates (sometimes critically) in the process. This would help curb this behavior while at the same time reward players with good gunnery discipline with higher XP/C-Bill awards.

Who cares? Last I heard Brian said friendly fire damage was around 10 a match. It's just not that big of a deal. I think I've been teamkilled intentionally once...EVER (4000 games). And I reported him, which is what you are supposed to do.

I've also only intentionally TKed like 4-5 times. One in a duel, the rest to see if you could get a negative score on the tournament leaderboards to make myself last place in the non-light categories (answer, you can!)

Quote

4. Advanced Zoom. It's useless...please FIX it. I know CryEngine has PiP problems, so PLEASE just do the obvious thing and make it a straight 4x (or 5x) zoom with a HUD overlay with an alpha channel that simulates a "binocular effect." Problem solved.

Agree, but isn't a priority. There are a million better modules even if this one was fixed.

Quote

5. Unlockable End Game Content. I want to see a robust end game with content that is ONLY unlockable through grinding XP and/or achievements. Examples: Unique camo patterns/paints, "Veteran" 'mechs, special ammo, unique cockpit items, etc. Basically stuff players can show off to other players as badge of skill/experience, rather than just another bobble purchased with MC/c-bills.

CW achievements and faction rep.

Quote

6. Cheaper Fluff Content. There needs to be more "throw away" items in the MC store that can be had for under 50 MC. I want to buy LOTS of cheap fluff items frequently, rather than a few EXPENSIVE fluff items rarely. I'm an impulse shopper; but if a fluff item is too expensive I won't ever buy it even if I can afford it. For example, all of the cockpit items are stupidly expensive; there's no way in hell I'm going spend $4-5 on a silly cockpit item that nobody ever sees. However, if each item were around 50 MC or less, I would definitely pick a few up...probably one for each of my mechs (I have over 23 mechs).

Who cares? Some people would argue that even 50 MC is too much. Wait for a sale and buy, or get free ones with challenges. I have nearly every cockpit item (only ones I don't have are the peace sign, dog tags, and the non-davion faction items).

Quote

7. Chat Window. Forgot to mention this (hence the edit)...but the in-game chat window is also pretty unwieldy (which makes #1 above all the more imperative). For some reason you can't hold backspace down to quickly erase text....but if you hold down any other key it repeats annoyingly across the field. BAD. Also, lack of scrolling back to previous messages is a FAIL.

Going to be a steam like overlay with UI 2.0

------------------------------------------

As for the game itself, I'm loving it~

I am playing some other games though too, namely Marvel Heroes and Last of Us, but I always come back to my Jenner.

Uh...how? You have 32 internals in a centurion let alone the 60+ potential armor in the CT. So way to overexaggerate and lie

Hey now, I don't mind the flamer heat cap...it should just be on both user and target to make any sense whatsoever, lol. Or at least change how it works, cause right now the exponential increase is both a boon and a really terrible nerf for trying to keep someone at 90% (basically the exponential increase timer seems to drop off immediately when the flamer stops hitting)

More than 16 armor would be more than 1/3 max armor devoted to my rear - no, I don't have 16 or more armor in my rear flanks.

This game has me hooked. It is the only game in my 20+ years of gaming that has kept me playing continuously for nearly a year. Closest contenter lasted 3, maybe 4months.

Each drop is against a differant set of playstyles. This in itself keeps the game exciting everytime.

The tweaks and changes patches bring to the game mix up the configurations of enemies and teammates on a regular basis.

New mechs once a month and new maps every other month bring to the table new tactics to learn and master.

I'm entertained 2 - 3 hours nearly every night of the week. The community on the New Avalon and NGNG TS are a great bunch of people to drop with.
