Later in the year, the clans will drop. I really look forward to seeing what Alex has done with the redesigns.

* Actually, the Clans have started to invade, but here in the Inner Sphere all we know is that some outer rim planets have mysteriously gone offline from the HPG grid.

i dunno the stalker isn't squared. neither will be orion.
have some faith.
here is incomplete alpha strike art cover done by Alex for reference. (lol it looks almost exactly like the MW4 timberwolf just with fatter legs, like all mechs get in MWO)
The timberwolf in MWO probably won't end up looking like that, since ultimately alex himself doesn't decide what goes into the game. He does a bunch of concept arts of a mech and PGI ultimately decides which one they'd like to put into the game.
so really it is more of the artistic design's vision of the mech, with alex's flavor.
side note: i hope the Timberwolf's head hitbox won't be that big. its already disadvantaged by massive torsos (ears)

Although not official by any means, durring start-up somone screen capped the screen when the HUD was coming online. At that exact moment, the damage indicator showed separate arm and shoulder hit boxes. It is possible that the Madcat will be one of the mechs that has that.
I do not remembert the link to the post, but maybe somone here does and can reference it here in this post.

For the record, it`s not "for whatever reason".
There are NO clan mechs and tech ingame at present. This is partly due to the 3050 timeline.
They will be introduced somewhere between September and March, depending on how you interpret the Dev posts.

Currently in the lore the clans pulled back their forces to elect a new Ilkhan and has put the invasion "on hold" until sometime in august (I believe). So cool your jets, it's coming.

In the IS, there has been so much warfare and salvage over the past centuries that , in theory, anybody could own anything, regardless of whether the House offers it or not. To a certain extent this applies to teh clans as well, but in particular some of the newer front line designs are not so widespread, yet.
There are for example very few Dire Wolves outside of Wolf and Smoke Jaguar, or Summoners are rare outside of Jade Falcon. So it will be interesting to see what mechs which clans have available in their Toumans....

Before the Clan Invasion Kurita, who prefer Mech with more armor and no Jump Jets, If they captured a lightly damaged Catapult CPLT-C4 (2x LRM-20s, 1x Small Laser) they would field it in its existing config. But, once it is severely damaged they will strip it for parts to keep its Catapult CPLT-K2 (2x PPC, 2x MGs) running. It was not that easy to "Just Reconfigure" a Mech.

While the backstory is nice, and it gives some explanation to the timing for different chassis launches, This is NOT a RP (role playing) game. (If it was intended to be, it failed miserably.) Its a good 1st person shooter, with an added technical edge with configurations and loadouts.
I don't see anything like the groupings from the old MW2 online PvP game. Personally, I'm glad. That took up far too much time to be in a "clan" and made it almost impossible to get a decent game without being in one. It was great if you were a 12 - 18 year old, with plenty of time on your hands to dedicate 2, 3 or even 5 nights a week to the game - but that doesn't work as you get older. One of the reasons it died (aside from improvements in computers that made it hard to play) is that competing games could be played whenever you wanted, singly or in groups - and you still had a fun and enjoyable game.
That being said, I'm less interested in a strict adherence to the MW universe timeline than I am in a playable and enjoyable game. I'd love to see Timber Wolfs / Mad Cats and Mad Dogs / Vultures. I'd actually spend real money to get one about as soon as they came out. But if they (and the rest of clan tech) come into the game at the cost of either being unable to win without them, or of having to face AI controlled or Developer controlled versions without being able to play them ..... then its a waste and takes away from the game.
And 7 - 9 year timelines? Really? Lets be honest - how many games are still running after 7 years? 3? 4? Out of how many that try? Id say worry about making it good now and not even think what MIGHT be an introduction 7 years from now.
