Hooray, this is the first contest I have been able to participate in, including dbl xp weekends, because of travel. Thanks, just a note, if we could get a schedule of when events take place one could plan around it, just a thought.

Overly one dimensional contest which has just been turning most matches into a cap race. So many other kinds of contests that could have rewarded good piloting.

  • accuracy contest?
  • assists?
  • savior kills?
Whoever came up with this is such a simpleton.

I didn't see anymore capping than usual, a simple solution would have been to not charge off into the middle, and leave base open if that bothered you so much.

*gives the simpleton a pat on the head*

Keep up the good work

So I thought I'd stream my attempt at the challenge, and since I had so much fun coming up with the titles and descriptions, I thought I'd share them.

Episode 4 - A New Sensor: The first segment of the challenge. Our intrepid mechwarrrior learns the mystic ways of the Seismic Sensor and learns to use his new seemingly preternatural awareness to bring greater mech wreckage to the infamous PUG.

Episode 5 - The Sniper Strikes Back: Following the success which his new sensor suite has brought to him in the theater of combat, our stalwart mechwarrior finds himself hard-pressed and struggling in a new role where his immediate situational awareness may not serve him so well...

long range!

Episode 6 - Return of the MechWarrior: In the wake of the turbulent lessons and torrential death and damage, our hero, determined and resolved, marches forth into combat again. He brings with him the knowledge and experience he has learned in his dealings with the two seemingly diametrical principles of Mech Wreckage, Sniper and Brawler. In the end, he finds his own way as MechWarrior and wallks the path of the Lone Wolf!

Epilogue - I Am Just A Piece Of Metal: As the new reality of MechWreckage begins to settle in upon the shoulders of our determined protagonist, a new menace to the win and kill stats of our hero has shown it's shadowy hand upon the field of combat... The PREMADES! As our resolute mechwarrior continues the battle to complete the challenge set by the almighty Garth, his determination to walk the path of the Lone Wolf is put to the test...

Overall, I'd have to say I enjoyed this challenge. If nothing else, it gave me the impetus to pay more attention to how I play and it shows in my stats. Personally, I would have preferred to have the challenge icon as the reward holo. After all, StrongArm Atlas > spinny number. Just sayin'.

The prize is luckluster, but the idea is excellent.

I agree, but the prize is hardly going to be steller, for an event even I can complete in a 24 hour period and not neglect family, and life

I completed the challenge yesterday and still do not see my hologram in the MECHLAB to put in my Mech. When do these get added to your manifest?

Just to add to the discussion, I only had two games out of about 40 which were cap races. The rest were extremely close battles with large amounts of teamwork and support (usually).

I had some of the best battles I've ever had in MWO during this event.

This was one of the best ideas that has come out of the board room. Little things that don't cost MC. More of these types of contests should be run. Now go down to you local pub and come up with some ideas. The more you play the better your chances and don't make it very hard. This is a good incentive to get players, and it shows you have heart. Cough,. How about colors Mechs, house holograms to name a few.,

Actually the cap races got so predictable that all you had to do was sit near base and defend. I even started to recognize names of people doing it.

Sit near base, take out the 4 jenners
(or whatever) that rush in and then take your 2 to 1 advantage to the rest of the enemy.

Also: first attempt. Perhaps wait until the next weekly challenge (who knows when that will be :D) and see what comes next.

Just finished, and it was fun to actually play for something other than CBills and XP ... I only saw two true base rushes. Most of the games were pretty fair matches. Keep those types of challenges coming!

Nice challenge.

My only cap race (in a Highlander :D ) was more like not finding the enemy on Alpine ;)

I enjoyed this as well. It was silly, honestly, but what I really liked was what this represented: Neat goals and such that are actually attainable with low to moderate play. Like Thontor, I played somewhat more than I normally do(6 or so matches per day) to finish this, but it was fun nevertheless.

I didn't find a lot of basecapping, not substantially more than regular matches, but I did see more lights and mediums about than normal. I adapted to this by rolling in my 5ssrm2/alrm20 skillcat - it's useless against larger mechs, but tears mediums and lights apart.

Anyways, thanks PGI! It was fun!

(On a side note: once I'd scored over 25 victories, I didn't get a "CHALLANGE COMPLETE" message, the whole "Challenges" section of my profile page vanished. I hope all is good?)

Liked the challenge, was a great excuse to level a bj to master and earn enough c-bills to pay for a seismic sensor. hmmm, now what to do?

Great concept. It gives me a good excuse to play MWO instead of other games.

It's sad that I have to consider it an actual challenge to get at least 25 wins a day... *Sigh*

Well your challange seems to be getting a LIFE then.

I think ending this challenge (and presumably future weekly challenges) at 5 PM UTC is a mistake. For those of us in the CONUS, 5 PM UTC is between 10 AM (Pacific) and 1 PM (Eastern). I can't speak for all, and possibly even most of the community, but I know that some of us have jobs. Maybe PGI is trying to appeal to international gamers by using UTC for their times, but ending a challenge in the middle of the day is annoying.

Also, it's called a weekly challenge, but we were given less than 4 days (94 hours, to be specific) to complete it. How about giving us an actual week (7 full days or 168 hours) to complete these challenges? And if that seems to generous, make them a little harder to compensate.

While I did complete this challenge (by staying up until 2 AM on a work night), I'm unlikely to participate in future challenges if they have the same timetable.
