Well, SOME of those mechs could be possible. I do believe Comstar shared some Crocketts with DC sometime around 3039. Which ended up becoming Katanas. Also Thugs should be in some production, as well as Guillotines.

AND. By the way. If you include Guillotine, you are pretty much stepping into the Age Of War era mechs. Because Guillotine, while being a standart SLDF heavy, actuall predates the Star League itself. There is a number of even OLDER mechs that are still in widespread use like Archer, Thunderbolt, Banshee, Shadow Hawk, Wasp (and generally a vast majority of unseens). On the other hand, there's a number of pre-starleague mechs that truly went extinct, like Hector, Icarus, Battleaxe, Hammerhands (want those 2 guys in my hangar SOOO BAD), Helepolis, Firebee.

Agreed on the Crockett/Katana, but that has a separate entry in the TRO, so I'd treat that as a different 'mech. I think you'll be hard-pressed for the Unseen/Re-seen you mention (left those out intentionally to keep us focused here).

Also, I agree on the Guillotine, and I was very torn on that one - didn't quite feel right. Good points here.

All you guys are making good points, in fact: the list is aimed at the n00b-ish, of course, who don't know their Madcat from a Timberwolf from a Black Knight ;)

I left the Flea out because it is not uncommon: in TRO 3050U it shows up in the non-Star League section.

Actually, I believe, it IS uncommon and also a pre-starleague mech that was nigh extinct until WD brought them back. Like Hoplite, Annihilator and Imp (the latter technically being a Clan mech). I think considering these mechs common is a big mistake.

Point well taken. Some of you guys are real experts on the timelines of individual 'mechs: that's good to see here ;)

@DireWolf307
The most likely and the ones that make the most sense given the timeline, setting, and availability. They are those from the TR:3039 BattleMechs and First In Centuries chapters. There's issues around the Project Phoenix ones and, as stated in this thread, the Star League ones are not commonly available.

TR:3039 contains retcons like the Cataphract, so yeah, that is also a good resource as well. It's just the 4th Edition was a "starter set" for new players, and since this game starts as pretty much the same thing before expanding and adding via expansions and DLCs, I think it makes a good list of what to expect as immediately available.

DRATS!!! And here I was hoping the 13th battlemech would be a Highlander!!! Of course, that still leaves mechs like the Charger and Hatamoto-Chi in the running, so all hope is not yet lost.

Nah, it's actually a good list. Though there's one thing.
As far as I understand, a good chunk of SL-era mechs were introduced in the revised 3025 TRO to actually replace unseens. Which should make them not really rare. Or, rather, their downgraded variants. Like, by the way, the Highlander. But on this we actually should probably consult someone with a better knowledge of BT history. Like developers maybe? :rolleyes:

I think a good starting point would be comparing mech lists for TRO 3025 (common stuff), TRO 2750 (rare stuff), TRO 3025 Revised (some rare stuff turning into more-or-less common stuff) and TRO 3039 (ComStar shenanigans with DC for starters. There were other mechs apart from Crockett).

Technical Readout: 3050 Upgrade

Publisher Catalyst Game Labs
Product Code 35122
First published May 2007
ISBN-10 0979204763

Description

Technical Readout: 3050 Upgrade is the third book in the Upgrade series of Technical Readouts, the third related to 3050, and the first released since Total Warfare and TechManual introduced new equipment. Like its predecessor Technical Readout: 3050 Revised, it excludes the Unseen, which got their update in Technical Readout: Project Phoenix. The ambitious book covers all 'Mechs from 3050 Revised, including the Star League 'Mechs, combat vehicles, and aerospace fighters that were added from Technical Readout: 2750. As with the other Upgrades, information is provided on famous pilots and historical references are updated to 3071. Unlike its predecessors, TRO: 3050 Upgrade contains design variants that make use of 3069-era technology. The 'Mechs were also split up into "Inner Sphere", "Clan", and "Star League" sections, with the latter also containing the Star League-era vehicles and fighters.

TBF - if this game is set in 3050 there is already lostech being rediscovered (and built for the 1st time in centuries) and deployed by all houses - its just so uncommon atm that only elite units (canon speaking) are being fitted out with it.

So, in theory, you could create a Starleague(ish) version of the 12 lauch mechs already. ... there are just a few bits and pieces missing like ER Med Lasers for example.

You will also need a credit card ;)

I think Piranha have said too that there not going to do premiums mech as such (WoT style) in a few of their posts so there wont be an inbalance with people wondering around in ex-SLDF kit beating your A&%s lol

I dont think the Annihilator was SLDF? It was designed during the Amaris civil but never deplyed in the IS. Kerensky took the design with him

Didnt Wolfs Dragons bring it back with them?

Annihilator

Originally developed in the final year of the Amaris Civil War as the ultimate fixed position city defense BattleMech, the Annihilator was built as a sign of the military strength of both the Star League in Exile and the newly created Clans. The 100-ton 'Mech has a maximum speed of 32.4 km/h, making it one of the slowest 'Mechs ever designed together with the UrbanMech. It is by no means intended to use speed to outmaneuver an enemy, instead depending on its twelve and a half tons of armor to weather any fire that is directed at the 'Mech. Discontinued before the Clans' Golden Century, in one of their few missteps, the Wolf's Dragoons brought a number of designs with them in 3009, raising more questions to their origins while at the same time adding to their mystique. It was exclusive to the Dragoons until the Jihad disseminated the design to Arc-Royal due to the strengthening of the relationship that Wolf's Dragoons forged with the Kell Hounds and Clan Wolf-in-Exile following their flight from Outreach.

Yes, something like that, IIRC. I also mentioned the Imp being a clan design. I was trying to make a poing that not all SL (as in SL era design, not SL equipment) mechs are uncommon, and not all rare mechs are actually SL

No youre right - there are the odd few mechs which pre date starleague or were never built before the exodus. Be cool if they made some cameos.

@Skylarr
That Upgraded version of TR:3050 breaks it down pretty nicely. The 20 year old version I have doesn't divide it into sections like that. It's all just lumped together. Maybe I should go through my closet and upgrade my Technical Readouts. :(

My sources for the list (since there have been other mentions/questions): TRO 3039; TRO 3050U; TRO 3058U.

For those keeping score:

3039 combines 3025 and 3026

3050U combines 3050 and 2750

Great conversation, mates: super community here :(
