Ok, so I just hit a centurian in the CT at about 50m 3 times with 2 ERPPCs from a Highlander, his Large Lasers killed me in three shots, and his CT never took any damage...

He must have known that my ERPPCs were broken, cuz he just stood there and laughed and killed me.

On the other hand, my other mech has two PPCs in the right arm, and I still do damage at point blank, even though PPCs are supposed to have a min range.

I take it I'm the last to find out?

If verified, this would be what is known as a "bug".

I think you have it reversed...

The ERPPC has both an extended range over the normal PPC, and the ERPPC has no minimum range; those two factors cause it to have a higher assigned heat value. The normal PPC will deal reduced damage within 90meters, such that damage drops off at a constant rate until you wind up dealing 0 damage at the tip of the barrel. (10dmg @ 90m, 5dmg@45m, and 0dmg @0m). The ERPPC deals a full 10 damage form the barrel out to it's peak range of 810 meters.

It'd be good to see if this is confirmed or not, because if the ERPPC is dealing reduced dmg within 90m, and the PPC isn't, then there's a bug in the weapons' values.

When the feature that you thought you had, turns out to be a different feature.

yeah, i know all about PPCs/ERPPCs. I was there in 1985 when the CBT came out. What I am saying is that in this game, when I shoot people with ERPPCs at close range, they do little or no damage. When I shoot people with PPCs at the same range, they do far more visible damage, when they should be doing no damage at all.

I alpha striked a centurian, with an already damage CT, three times, with 2xERPPC and 1xGauss, which should be 105 damage, and sure death. He was standing still. I was standing still. I'm not that bad a shot. He had 3xLarge Lasers. I figured he would be dead in the first or second alpha so I did not try to avoid his damage. After we exchanged 2 alphas, I was cored, and he was not only still alive, he showed no more damage than when we started. No way I missed. No way he should have lived.

On the other hand, I actually switched to PPCs on my Trebuchet, because I am still able to damage lights that circle me close. The PPCs do damage and the ERPPCs do not. I thought I noticed this right after PPCs were supposed to be fixed. I think instead, they 'fixed' ERPPCs, and left PPCs alone. They got it backwards.

Hard to tell if it's just hit reg or not, but I've swapped back and forth between ER and normal PPCs on my highlander, and the ERPPC definately has problems at close range. Reduced damage is definately there for PPCs under range, but ERPPCs seem to be all or nothing less than 90...more often than not...nothing. I think it's more than likely hitreg, but why it affects ERs more than normals is beyond me.

Just going to point out that if we had private matches, we could test this in about five minutes without interference and abuse from other players. :)

Living Legends had a lot more trouble with hit recognition, but it is still here too. Maybe I need to log out in between games? Or is this more server side?

I've made a lot of drops last four or five days, most of them with ERPPCs, and I'm thinking of all the times I was wondering why my shots didnt seem to do damage, and in every case I can think of, it was when I was in close range. I don't know whats wrong, but something is wrong with ERPPCs and close range damage. Thanks for your time guys.

FUN DAMMIT!

Nothing on your end other than ping matters...client restarts every now and then has helped bugs in the past, but I routinely go 4+hours without a restart

Might i suggest jumping in the training grounds to verify :)

Well, its not quite the same as practicing against moving mechs, but you can do your long range and point blank shots on a stationary target to see if the damage registers properly. That said, the dolls would be server side so that could affect it maybe?

Just to get a clarification:

you mean PPCs have a min range, but are still doing normal damage, and ER PPCs are not registering?

Ive been having troubles with ppcs hitting as well, Ive noticed this when I hit a ecm mech dead on, and ecm doesn't shut off.

I'm guessing it is a result of the still the super awesome (super crappy) hit detection.
