In the frozen city one night, four lances clashed. It was in the opening stages of this encounter that the following happend.
I was piloting my HBk-4SP armed with an ERPPC, 2 Medium lasers and a Pair of 6SRM launchers. I had my place in the front left flank with a pair of other mediums that had just engaged a centurion when I noticed an enemy HBK-4G on a small ridge to our right.
He hadn't seen me and i stoped to make sure my shot hit. I let lose a single bolt from my PPC which struck the hunchbacks left arm.
As I alinged my self towards him to engage an explosion ripped the arm off my target and blew out the inards of the poor sodd.
And so ended the career of yet another mechwarrior, due to a severly missplaced munitions load.
Know this, don't place you AC20 ammo in your left arm from which you've stripped most of the armor.

Mind Your Loadout.

I remember once on Forest Colony, i came out of the Cave entrance near Epsilon.
I took a right turn with an allied Cat and ran into an enemy Atlas. I was a bit taken aback, so when i loosed off a few ultra rounds they went low, and nailed one of his legs.
The Cat MUST have done the same as within seconds the atlas's legs were critical.
I fired 2 or 3 rounds into the critical leg and it went up. and a few moments later, the explosions traveled up into the XL engine he had to be using, making it one of the quickest atlai i have ever felled!
I do beleive he had been using a gauss also.
so, Missile ammo in legs+no leg armor+ Gauss on appropriate side+ XL- Luck=

Glorious! Nothing beats a quick Atlas kill.
I'll try, though. Forest Colony, my team was taking it's sweet time deciding which way to go. By the time we figured it out, A ECM Trollmando came across the water and tried to weave in and out of our ranks. It didn't go well. That was soon followed by the poor sod piloting a Cicada. At that point, we simply decided to take up a defensive position at base. And behold, a DDC decided to charge at us all by his lonesome. He rounded the big rock in the water and started to take heavy fire, and he was forced to seek shelter behind the boat. I had the standard 4SP loadout and was getting board of letting the snipers kill everything, so I thought I'd use cover to engage from behind while he was pelted with gauss and PPC fire. Well, he spotted me on my way, and decided I was the only one he could do something about. To take the heat off, I headed for the big rock and rounded it to find... another DDC and three other mechs. I figured I was toast and wanted to go down in a blaze of glory, so I charged into the group, snapped to the DDC, and let loose and alpha. To my astonishment, he crumpled to the ground. I went straight through his cockpit armor and set off some ammo stored there. I died soon thereafter, but it was worth it to one-shot a DDC!

Another Atlas story here:
This was back when I was running a Jenner D with 4x SPL and 2x SSRM's. The map was Caustic and the fight had devolved into a melee on the Epsilon side of the volcano, with both teams fully engaged at point blank. I was running through the middle of the pack at 140kph chasing other lights and mediums through the brawl and harassing the backs of heavies when the opportunity presented itself. I happened to twist to my right and see an Atlas standing only about 50m away, facing me but duelling someone else behind me. I took a pot shot at him with my SPL's as I was running by, intending to break off and keep chasing lights. Imagine my surprise when his head exploded and he slowly toppled backwards from a completely accidental headshot. Myself, the Atlas pilot and the guy duelling him were all gobsmacked and our team went on to win which was icing on the cake.
