Not the ability to hold a jittery reticle over the space of a few pixels at 1000+ range while in flight?

Not sure what is happening to yours, but my reticle doesnt get jittery when JJing up and down... it is a smooth path up and down on a verticle axis. All you need to do is wait for them to cross and fire. If one is moving, it's an easy horrizontal adjustment for lead. If your reticle is spazing out, you might want to take a look at your control input sensitivity, DPI settings, or go decaff. I have played the poptart roll and spacebar click was only marginally more exciting than wait for someone else to spot and click. If people want to claim to like that play style, I just wonder where they were from the start of JJ's and why the suddenly started to appear en masse after the LRM nerf and ER/PPC buffs. Perhaps all those right clicking LRM boats just turned into poptarts until they re-buffed LRMs then went back to the poptart life after LRMs got the nerf bat again.

It's funny. This game didn't have a "poptart" problem till the Highlander (and Heavy Metal) come about. I knew a jump jetting Assault was a bad idea when they announced it. Afterall for balance, an Assault needs to have a lack of manuverability.

Once this mech hit, everyone started jump sniping, and then jump sniping with the Cataphract right after that.

I think the Highlander is mostly to blame. :(

Giving the 732 an extra energy hardpoint is the developers fault. If it only had the required 2 energy, it would just be a heavier armored cataphract and would be outgunned by any other assault.

The developers implementation of the highlander is also an issue, not just the mech.

It's like this, in the air, and then PEWPEW.

Honestly adding shaky cam to jumping was one of the sillest things PGI could have done considering modern day tech is already there with gyroscope stabilizing mounts for targeting/cameras. There's nothing wrong with the jumping part. PGI's vision of "balance" sorrounding heavy long ranged weapons with few to little drawbacks is the crux of the issue imo.

Actually the mechanic for No fire allowed while Jumping is scribed in the written rules that the DEVs said they would try to stay true to. +3 to hit for jumping was in the rules for a reason. I is meant to be very difficult to do. So shake the crap out of the camera. and let the steady hands only be able to Pop Tart.

FYI Modern day Canons can kill at 4 miles away...

So why was this "poptart" thing not anticipated by P.G.I.?

"Poptarting" is a symptom of the desire to maximize the effects of game mechanics.

The foresight may have been lacking or there is simply not enough time for them to implement a refined JJ in one-go. PGI knows about MW:LL, there is no doubt. I can't imagine they would simply ignore a game like MW:LL that has the perfect, balanced Jump Jet system that did away with the MW4 "poptart" problem in one massive sweep while retaining Jump Jets as a supreme mobility equipment for evasion or for skilled jump shooters that can compensate for shake/heat.

The game was good until this became widespread. To many matches now are just mechs jump jetting and shooting PPCs aor AC20 or Gaus shots. While it may have been in the table top game this is really a bad thing in this game. With the lag, netcode etc....to get a shot to hit can be a challenge. If they do not stop it at the very least they need to add some type of mch shaking to simulate the rockets firing. No way should someone be able to snipe doing that if they want the game to be successful. I am sure there will be haters out there that do this and feel they have skill but the real fun of the game is mixing it up and going at it. Not this jump crap. LRMs are almost useless for a few reasons but jumping in and out of target lock doesn't help. I do hope they balance this soon. It is bad enough the matches are hardly evenly matched with this ELO stat. maybe I am missing something but in PUGs this is making the game less fun. I am sure in a CLAN group you can have your own snipers but even that is not fun. This will turn into a WOT sniper fest that is crappy. I really thnk that lights should be the only ones jetting around if they will allow firing in midair.

How about adding some new types of matches as well? some multimech spawn maps or something.

Let the hate begin..

Ebon.

I disagree 100%....you just want to run around like a chicken with its head lobbed off, try to play tactically, when you see a poptart take advantage of it....they usually are not all that scary in a close encounter...force it
