very nicely done! any plans to make other figures?
I'm also curious how long it took to adjust the model to make it movable.

great job!

Have you though giving it a little of acetone / sanding / putty to make it smother?
Or you prefer to play it safe?

It's actually not as rough as it looks when you're a normal distance away from it. Some of the photos are done with very zoomed macro lens in a small one or two inch section to show the printed texture. This is ver 1 though, I'm sure the detail and build can be refined further.

Being a Transformer collector I'm in toy stores all the time. TRU has a isle dedicated to video game and movie toys. I have seen some of the crapiest games with a toyline so there has to be money in it. I think this would be a seller for both MWO and non MWO fans. Just make sure there is a SP I can repaint if and when you do it.

It's printed in PLA, I checked it out, and it seems acetone only works for ABS.

I think there's further refinement I can do to improve the finish by tweaking the printer and settings, decreasing the layer height amongst other things. I don't think you'll actually notice layering on the majority of parts once there's a coat of primer, these things are often a lot more noticable in macro under studio lights. I sprayed a catapult with primer and it seems to fill the grooves. Though I actually kinda like the shading effect that the layering gives unpainted, its almost like a metalic plastic anisotrphic... thing, and because some parts have different angle layers, they look different in the light. But I'm biased because I am paticularly unskilled at painting.

Like Telkin said, this is kinda the guiniepig version 1. I have some improvements in mind already in terms of design as well as finish quality. Finish quality is probably the easiest thing to solve, if you want really smooth it can always just be printed on a higher end machine or smaller layer height at the cost of money or time respectively.

It's really cool there's so much interest. If we could get permission to make these things, we would!

Yeah, but have you noticed that the all time leader in BAD financial planning and decisions in Game-dom has always been whoever seems to hold the license for Battletech and it's related properties? FASA is the record holder for idiotic financial planning, FanPro wins no awards, WizKids did little better, Microsoft COULD have done something, and instead, despite a fair bit of success with the Mechwarrior titles, decided to simply go turtle, and TBH, I can't say that CGL has done hugely better, largely just retreading the same old stuff, instead of actually DEVELOPING the line.

So no, I sure don't expect much.
