I plan on buying the elite founder's package, because I want the founder's mech, early access, and just want to support future MechWarrior development. However I have no idea how I'll spend any of that in-game cash.

What do you expect to be able to spend money on, given that the devs have explicitly stated that you will not be able to buy anything with an in game effect that could not also be purchased by someone who was grinding for cbills?

  • We already know you can buy mech chassis.
  • I would assume you could buy actual mech components as well
  • Given that the mechlab demo video shows a limited number of hangar slots, I would bet you can buy additional hangar slots as well
  • Visual customization of mechs (fancy paint jobs, decals, etc). Some might even be "cash only"

What else do you expect to be available that would NOT be considered "pay to win"?

I wouldn't be so sure about the Mech components.

But I am sure about the Premium. The Month of game play with increased XP and C-bill rewards.

Dashboard hula girls.

Alright, double edit for real content:

Probably lots of cosmetic stuff. Hangar bays and 'Mech components seem likely. Premium acct. status for XP and C-Bill boosts. Possibly direct conversion to C-Bills, though they may just give everything they want you to be able to buy via RMT an M-Cred price alongside the C-Bill price.

More tentatively, maybe an increase to Loyalty Point generation once that whole system is added? Vanity titles? Custom 'Mech emote animations...? Maybe a charge to found a Merc corp, though that seems a bit unlikely.

I'm fine with an XP multiplier as well as a C-Bill bonus multiplier.

If you take the MechLab video to full screen, you can see that each module (weapons and such) have a price in MC as do the mechs. If I understand it, MC is the cash currency. So it appears that any weapon or module can also be purchased for cash. I see not issue really since they are all the same guns.

I'd settle for a Wolfs Dragoons colour scheme and quicker access to weapons such as ER-PPC's.

I suspect that the secret here is that you get $80 or what ever of in-game credits but they are no more valuable than the C-Bills in game, it just gives you say a 20-25 hour head start on any other player.

Long days and pleasant nights, Sai, but I think the store will just be full of clan tech and Urbanmechs.

I'd guess the following:
  • Mechs/Variants (discussed in the Mechlab walkthrough)
  • Mech Skins
  • XP/CBill Multipliers
The one slight issue with being able to purchase mechs for cash is that it means you can indirectly purchase weapons. I was really hoping that they would make it more like League of Legends so weapons could not be purchased directly from the store. Instead they should only be obtained in salvage imo.

We already know that weapons are mechlab purchased for cbills as it is. People have pointed out that they list MC prices for weapons as well, so those are already directly purchasable.

Hrm... custom paint jobs you can't pull off otherwise, perhaps some advanced components (like an upgraded ECM Suite?)...

A Real Cash to Game Cash converter (as it were).

Hm... I know! A triple-barrel Long Tom Autocannon so you can play the one-'Mech artillery battery!

Or access to orbital weapons systems!

Nothing says "You die now!" like a couple Heavy Gauss slugs fired from on high at a fraction of light speed.

thing of it is, it might not be p2w store wise but you wont be able to run the heavier mechs if they scale the cost of repairs with the tonnage of the mech and value of equipment attached. basically without premium you'll be stuck in smaller mechs because of repair costs. that is unless your uber good and never die you'll make it through with only a smerk from your battlemech accountant ;)

all speculation of course, but, if WoT is anything to be measured by thats exactly what will happen. not that i care personally, its just slightly annoying.

Although it's not P2W I'd bet it is pay to be better equipt sooner. Everything in the mechlab will have a price. You want a BAP for your scout? Then either go through 20 battles to earn the cbills or just buy it now with the cash in your account. May seem bad to some people but it's no worse than joining at release and finding that the open beta people are already fully equipt because there's no reset at launch. And no I'm not calling for a reset at launch, just pointing out the seeming unfairness that some are going to see and carp about.

To be clear, there will be no Extended Extended-Range Lasers for real money.

We're not selling better weapons for real money.

It sounds like it might work out this way to some extent, but on the plus side it certainly looks like they're doing a lot to make sure smaller/lighter 'Mechs have a truly viable role to play in any fight - moreso than a lower-tier tank in a high-tier WoT match.
