I'm completely with OP here, Distinguishing friends from foes and finding your bearings in the heat of battle should be a pilot(i.e player) skill, not something that game subroutines do for you.

i agree. i do not want visual handIcaps.

^this x1000. I cannot stress enough how lame this forced IFF is. Such "aids" are aimed at casual players and making combat too easy. "See the red triangle? shoot at it. See the turquoise one? don't shoot". Takes a lot of fun out of the game.

Now lets say same scenario only now you have those pesky little arrows everyone seems to dislike somuch... the path to your group is no longer a hunt that costs your group time without your weapons in the mix an you don't end up that guy that got lost an died possibly costing the match.

...and that's exactly what should separate good mech pilots from bad ones. Finding your bearings should be a matter of skill, not the matter of how good are you at seeing coloured triangles on your screen.

Combat is never easy even seeing tags. Don't know how a stupid tag is going to take fun out of a game when its part of technology in use today and would make perfect since in Mechwarrior.

We have pilots, gunners and other who use IFF daily and they are still great pilots and gunners and what not who use it.
Why in the **** would you not want to have a tool that could save the life of a friend equipped and running it could be the mech you take down because you in rush of battle didn't ID the target correctly. Have a IFF helps elimitate that but Friendly Fire still can happen in combat its a nasty ugly mess and lines get mixed. It happens IFF saves lives. In game ya its a game but if you take the real IFF systems and all its makes sence to have them in a combat sim.

So if are Military developed it back in the 30's and we still use it today. Why then are you calling the devs morons for having this feature.
It does not show where someone is at unless they are in LOS (line of sight of you or a ally).
