Weight Matching Isn't Working At All

sometimes my team has 2-3 more assaults (we faceroll\win)
sometimes the enemy team has 2-3 more assaults (they win)
its not balanced overall either
seen multiple games where one team has 6 assaults 1 heavy 1 medium
vs a balanced team with like 2/2/2/2
Is weight balancing even implemented?
Does it just not wait long enough to find balanced matches?
are so many people playing assaults that it is hard to balance the teams?
not enough active players?
am I alone in noticing this?

Pool of 1,000 players. 800 of them choose assaults. 100 of them choose heavies. 10 of them choose mediums. 90 of them choose lights.
MM can't balance that ... especially when you throw ELO into the mix.
The problem is NOT MM ... the problem is THE PLAYERS choosing assaults.
Well, the real problem is cbills are based mostly upon damage dealt ... the more damage you deal, the more cbills / xp you gain ... and *that* favors assaults. Change that, and you might change what people choose. Like give them a bonus for choosing heavies and a bigger bonus for bringing mediums, etc,.

I would atleast expect an equal number on both teams
as it stands
sometimes one team if half mediums
vs a team that is 6 assaults 2 heavies

I know it's petty, but this is like the 4th time I've seen you post in phrases that halt and sputter along down the page. I swear I'm hearing microsoft sam reading it aloud.

I took pictures and compared the weights and was partially right. For several games the majority were between 50 and 100 tonnes different. That is not as bad as i thought actually ... However when I looked a the mechs we had when we lost there was a stark difference.
Even when the weight came up decently balanced if my team had a lot of medium mechs we suffered horrendously. Even when that was not the case, there was a stark disparity between optimal mechs and sub optimal mechs.
Its not just weight, though it is important. Quite frankly though sometimes you just get lumped with people probably grinding terrible chassis and match against people running optimal builds and that is crusading from a balance perspective.
And yes I was running a terrible trebuchet i hate but want to level it

I used to use proper paragraph formatting on forums.
overtime I realized that most people digest the broken up data more easily
and are more likely to read this broken format, rather than a paragraph of text
sorry for offending any english majors

That said I'd take a good pilot in a light mech on my team rather than a terrible player in an assault mech any day.

because I have been solo dropping
and my wait times are MUCH higher than a few months ago
used to be instant
now it can take 30 seconds to a minute or more
sometimes it fails

agreed but it seems more common to get players of average quality across the board
and with 2 teams of so-so players (my ELO is def low)
the heavier one usually stomps

I also drop into quite a few games where it is all mediums against a mix of atlases and jenners. The mediums always lose. It's not enough to just balance by raw tonnage given inter-class balance right now.

Played this game earlier today 4 DDCs and another Atlas vs my team with only 3 random assaults. The game was still closer than I thought it would be, but it's ridiculous seeing all thoses atlai in one place.
