PGI - Make me a simple promise, please.

Also, I would rest a lot easier if you told us that things can always be subject to change. Hi-Rez basically stated that everything that isn't number-adjusting is locked in place, no matter how much people at the wonky physics, they are exactly how it will always be.
It'd make me feel warm and fuzzy.

I mean, hell, we had the president of the company come on the boards and apologize to us for not making their strategy at E3 clear.. to us. I can't remember a time when anyone gave a crap whether a bunch of guys on a forum understood their strategic planning for a conference appearance.
I think it's why I'm generally not too worried about the game at this point. They seem to have a sincere desire to make us happy.

I get the feeling PGI will do it right. They appear to be fans of the MW franchise as much as we, the players are.
And if there is one thing I know, the MW community is one of the best communities out there.
I have high hopes for where they will take MWO.

EA is releasing DLC, with more weapons, skins, maps etc., and while I can understand selling the community that sort of stuff (as long as it doesn't horribly outclass the default weapons), they also;
-arranged the "discount" bundle in such a way that players with the Back to Karkland expansion (either paid for, or given as a perk with limited edition) have to now pay for it as part of the bundle even though they already have it.
-offered premium members a priority loading ability to servers.
A horrible, poorly thought out implementation, and simple cash grab from a portion of the community that had already paid for a product.

I say 'EA' because EA is the one who gives DICE permission to spend money on these patches and release them.
On the other hand, Hi-Rez is only finally announcing a patch that might actually touch balance in a meaningful manner, and the game's been out for quite a while with some extremely outstanding issues. With their track record though, I'm skeptical. I'm sure the Saber Launcher will never be touched :/

if the look to league of legends and copy their attitude it would be glorious
honestly what other game company do you know that puts out patch previews and explains their choices behind nerfs and buffs

I find this acceptable, expecting new things to instantly be perfectly balanced is unrealistic. And it has been proven over and over in games that starting off too weak is way way worse then too powerful.
The end result is no matter what people are going to be upset, i just hope the company cares, one way or another.

Exactly. Don't forget, the devs are fans too! They are even more intent than we are on gloriousness of this game.

I think the business model is fine. Their premium guns are a bit overpowered sure, but they don't do it intentionally. Honestly, the Jackal has gone through so many nerfs that in its present state, it's a shadow of what it once was. The Plasma Gun is getting the same treatment with each upcoming patch.
And just recently, Hi-Rez met up with the top competitive teams in Tribes to discuss balancing issues that need to be patched. And you don't NEED to pay for any guns at all. 100,000 XP might seem like a lot- but that's only a week to a week and a half of grinding if you dedicate 1-2 hours a day to playing the game.
