How is it that the matches seem to be all 1 sided, what i mean is that the winning team has at least 6 players left alive, the majority of the time its 7 or 8.

So at a guess the match making system is so broke that the devs cant fix it................

If it was a car it would have been sold and a new one bought to replace it.............

Quite a lot of this stems from the nature of the game. Once a side goes up 2-0, it's extremely hard for the other team to recover, especially if one of the mechs lost in the first engagement is a heavy or assault. I wouldn't place so much blame on the matchmaker.

mmmmmm, it never used to be like this, i was away from end of jan to end of april, but before i went away the matches seemed to play out really well, with just a few survivors at the end.

So something has gone wrong somewhere, it was the same back in closed beta aswell, so im not really sure it is just down to that, not unless of course alot of the good players have left and the game is filling up with new players who are just learning the game maybe. I dont know but it appears to be very unbalanced and broken......

Big wins and losses are usually due to one team out teamworking the other. PGI can't really do much about that except finally add voice chat.

Even with totally random folks of equal skill, most mechwarrior matches will end up fairly lopsided affairs. It has always been this way.

As soon as one team gets an advantage over the other team, by say, two mechs, it's usually gonna be over real fast.

At that point, the team who is up will find it easier to concentrate fire on the remaining mechs. What's more, those who are firing at the remaining mechs are more likely to be left totally unmolested themselves. They can just stand there and precisely aim their shots. Additionally, the remaining mechs on the losing team are coming under fire from more and more mechs, knocking them around, and reducing their combat effectiveness.

It really has very little to do with matchmaking at all, and more to do with the nature of the game. When concentrated firepower wins matches, as soon as one team gets an advantage in mechs over the other team, they'll win quickly.

The only games where you see otherwise tend to be matches where one of two things happen:
1) The team who goes down early has one or more extremely talented pilots, who are able to singlehandedly kill enemy mechs, and even the odds.
2) The entire fight takes place in a bunch of disorganized combat spread over the entire map, so that when a mech dies, the guy shooting him cannot immediately assist his teammates.

Well you know...
I had not only one game that ended up with 8/0 either victory or defeat, that was REALLY close and competitive match.
Cause in the end, for example, all the guys left had cored and red parts everywhere - the only think that separated their victory from their defeat was that one shot that either missed or it was never fired.

I don't know in what ELO do you play, but I've not rarely seen the enemy to round it's front lines so the damage go across the whole team, instead of those 2 guys that rush forward and die.
And that, my friend, is one of the best strategies in this game - too bad that requires tons of coordination and experience to be used that often.
But that's that - 8/0 game and I say: "good game, and a very close one at that" - and all the other 15 people agree.

But yes - there are games, that you either stomp uppon on the foe, or get stomped uppon.
But I'm happy that I see those on the numbers of the others I talked about about 50/50 of the time :D

From what I've seen, it usually comes down to whoever has the better teamwork rather than which side has the better individual players. Tonnage plays a big part too, but again, it's only really an advantage if the heavier team plays nicely together.

I don't often see one sided stompings where both teams are about equal in teamwork. Not unless one side has a serious tonnage advantage.
