LRM's and SRM's give me a reason to expect that they will be working in time for release. Anyone?

LRM's were actually working in Sept 2012. However with the introduction of a warning for LRM's then ECM (ECM mind you Dev's said were working fine until recently when gee now BAP counters ECM), LRM use went down greatly but they could still be used. Then with the introduction of greatly reduced missile damage from 1.8 missile down to 0.7 missile, well LRM's have been dead since.

SRM's back in Sept 2012 were too strong for the time in the hands of someone who knew what they were doing. so SRM damage were nerfed down to 1.5 missile and the splash was reduced, however you could still aim a SRM and hit a few armor panels. Now however with the recent change to SRM trajectory, SRM'***** at 10M about as well as they hit at 270M. IOW's, SRM's have become useless.

So, with these two scenarios happening, the long time history of the Devs failing missiles repeatedly, who actually believes that missiles will be working for launch?

Personally, I've uninstalled the game and frankly I doubt I'll be reading the post. If there was a way to delete my account I would and it would give the BA's at least a true way to track churn. One less temptation to come back to this let down.

SSRM adjustments should be coming early June. HSR for missiles should be coming early June. Given the ongoing tweaks to missile performance and damage since the splash damage hot-fix one can assume that damage will continue to be adjusted on an ongoing basis.

Also:
Has PGI considered removing splash damage from missiles altogether?
A: Yes we have, but have elected to balance them differently. Currently the splash damage on all missiles is set to 5cm (effectively removing it) and will investigate if it should change any further in either direction.

Note that PGI is going "to balance them differently." This suggests that they're working on a splash damage fix and will likely bump the damage up in the mean time. My best guess is that SRM damage will go way up once the SSRM fix goes live. This will save brawling as a role and restore a lot of builds to viability.

Recall that launch won't be until after CW is live. CW will be implemented in multiple phases starting in the next month or two and continuing probably for about three months. This suggests that launch won't happen until late September at the earliest. Considering how much time that gives them to fix splash damage, correct Streak tracking behaviors, and bump up LRM and SRM damage considerably, I'd say odds are decent that they will be working in time for release.

Piranha's Games avg Metacritic Score is 57. After experiencing Piranha Game's track record, I don't concur with your assessment. But, its good to read that some people are still optimistic.

SRMs been pretty fine where they were before they got nerfed.
Nerfing a whole weapon system just because of a single Mech ("Splatcat" A1, I'm talking about j00) is horribly wrong.
With the SRM nerf (alongside with other weapon buffs and the introducing of the 732) brawling actually became a non existent, horrible option.
Workhorses like the DDC or Stalker 5M heavily rely on SRMs and are halfway worthless.
Pretty much all Mediums (for which the wight of a single AC 20 is way to heavy) have to rely on SRMs as well in terms of brawling.

Gimping especially SRMs was simply a bad move in terms of balancing the game. Such as adding "JJ-shake" is another bad move (instead of placing PPCs heatwise where they belong to).

I certainly see a whole lot of LRM boats out there currently for those complaining that they are underpowered.

I know I am deliberately playing my LRM boats for a couple of reasons.

First, telemetry is required for PGI to make changes. More people using the weapons means better data for their analysis.

Second, I enjoy LRMs and it's been a long time since I've used them. I have been spending too much time leveling my Cicadas and such to Master.

I still tend to do ok with my LRM builds, I just don't do great. Much of my damage output comes from my secondary weapons (I never run a pure LRM boat, as it's basically a free kill to anything with speed and half a brain). I'd like it if my LRMs (by far the biggest weight investment in those builds) were able to contribute a proportional amount of damage output.

Really, I'd be absolutely fine if damage went up and spread got bigger. More damage scattered all over would be far better for game play than the current low damage concentrated on the CT.

I'm pretty sure (and I hope I'm right for the sake of the game) that missiles right now should be considered placeholders.

There were massive bugs found that caused a complete rewrite of how missiles function. This hasn't been completed yet, and will one day make it into the game.

In the meantime, they have implemented a number of work arounds using existing code. Things like changing splash damage radius to only a few CM's, dropping damage and upping spread while reducing tracking strength.

These are all modifications to the existing missile implementation, they are not actually changes to missile code or functionality.

Therefore, I am left to assume that there is still the final big overhaul of missiles yet to come. I only hope I'm correct though, as currently the game has Rock, Scissors only. Paper being missiles and not able to counter or perform their function in game.

Ouch. Not pulling any punches with that post.

As an aside, it's kind of amusing how many of the reviews for their other games contain tidbits relevant to MWO. My personal favorite: "Watering down an already-diluted franchise isn’t going to inspire loyal fans of the series."
