Suggestion For The Armor In Mech Warrior Online.

A heat dispersal coating for armor to have increased resistence to damage from energy weapons but will not affect or be affected by damage from ballistic's, coating will provide partial damage protection for the armor section hit by an energy weapon in decreasing increments.

Examples of my idea.

1 PPC hit damage reduced to 5, if hit 2nd time with 1 PPC, damage reduction is now only 3 pts instead of 5 pts, 3rd time the coating is almost washed off and 1 PPC hit does 9pts of damage.

If armor section with coating is hit by a double PPC blast, damage reduction is 5pts + 3pts, the consecutive double shot reduction is 1pt, third double PPC blast does full damage to armor section.

If armor section is hit by a triple PPC burst the damage reduction is 5pts + 3Pts +1pt, the coating on that armor section is washed off.

Quad burst of PPC's overwhelms coating layer on the hit section and is washed off instantly, DAMAGE DONE is 5pts + 7pts + 9pts + 10pts.

Now I don't know if this would be part of the lore of the mechverse or not, but the current terror of being popped by quad ppc's and being insta ko'd from the match is ridiculous. I for one feel like this idea would give a slight peace of mind when going into a match that you dont have to play chicken from the start fearing that you will get instagibed from highlander's when playing in anything lighter than an assault mech.

MIght come. In 3058. So in around 8 years...

Even if some dont want to hear it. MWO is based on the Tabletop Battletech. And even all tech and mechs come from this. New ideas and tech are good. But will not come unless there is a pentant in the TT for the given time for it (for now).


Weapons and balance can be fixed way better with the stats of the weapons instead of new stuff to counter FOTM.

A few month ago the PPC were called the worst weapons right after the MG and Flamer. No one was even using these. So what has changed? I cant find the old patch notes, but the only change on the weapon i can remember was the projectile speed and the heat (by 1 point).
And suddenly they went from useless to owerpowered. This and the netcode fix to hit fast mechs, together with the popart chassis.

Yea Ari Dian thats sort of what i was thinking tho not a new armor type.

I guess PGI restricted themselves when they decided to follow the plan of going by years in the mechverse in parallel with our year.

Not the worst idea to be honest.

It will become overkill when all the BT tech is there. And i prefer it when they slowly add new stuff over time instead of all at once.

We are talking about hundreds of weapons and tech stuff.
