either way they did not keep the copywrite to just animae mecha if they had enforced their copywrite t keep the mechs to manga filmes and animae I surely would not be here writing this now. I still submit that the 3025 originals are a intrasinc part of the game..and to publish without them is a very serious problem..the huge battletech fanbase is NOT going to PAY for HALF a game that does not include All the mechs without good reason.........failure to do so will regulate this game to mediocrity

The Dragon is basically a giant, flightless Shadow Hawk. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Dragon

dragons were always under weaponed under armord ungainly lopsided mech with no sweet build up spot this is generaly true for 40 ton mechs and 60 ton mechs at the low ends of their bracket dragon is listed as a heavy but its really a medium mech...40 tonner are listed as mediums but their really lights underneath light scout mechs at 20 tons were just what they are and 80 tonners in the assault bracket play like heavy heavies.. that 60 ton mech was always a problem if you were looking for more guns. a wolverine s-hawk dervish all have better configurations than the dragon

Please take the time to read through those links that stjobe put up on the bottom of page 1, they should explain a lot regarding the legal mess.

The "huge" BattleTech fanbase are for the most part very well acquainted with the concept of the Unseen, and will accept it.

Oh, and it's "copyright", not "copywrite" - and the Unseen issue is not over copyright but over license rights. Please read up a bit on the issue before continuing, I provided some links for you in my previous post.

observation from personal experience.

In Copyright law, the winner is the party with the deepest pockets. They will literally drag it out so long that you go bankrupt on the legal fees and have to give up. PGI is a very young, cash poor, company. They would lose.

This does not fall under patent laws but is a copywright situation. The copywright holder gets to keep the rights for 70 years.

CopyRIGHTs have nothing to do with the invention of the airplane, and everything to do with the RIGHT to make copies :)

And teh 70 years you reference is 70 years to the estate, after the death of the original copyright holder. Unless those rights are sold before that , in which case it can (theoretically) go on for eternity if the rights are bought and sold in a timely fashion :)

As the owner of numerous copyrights (primarily music, but other performing arts as well), I feel it is my duty to know what I can and can`t do with them, and at lthe least to spell the word correctly...

PS: It`s kind of hilarious... people misspelling complex words outside teh basic 5k is common, but ironically the more basic the word and /or its root words get, the more creative the spelling mistakes get. And of course it`s doubly ironic because it pertains to legal rights which every TOm, D!ck and Harry harps on, but can`t even be arsed to spell properly ;) ;)

well zerb I do not delibritly miss spell things just not a typist, nor do I spend a huge amount of time spell checking every dam thing. until coming here yhis week id never heard of this crapola called unseen. I played the minatures right up to the month MTG butchered the gaming groups with their crack card game..i played the mw comps games after 1994 when I changed to a pc clone from my amiga.. so to tell me that they are unseen is pure BS period and HG needs to have their head shoved right up their ***'es or lopped off whichever is convenient ...time to put mech statues in my front yard with a big finger for HG and yes I read some of the legeal shmeegal ******* courts got paid off is what...invalidating the decision

I'l just repost this.

As i have pointed out before... Even if the unseen did not become unseen there is no guarantee that FASA actually owned the rights to use the designs in computer games. And there is a even less sure thing that they would have stayed intact after the transfer of ownership and secondary licensing left and right.

Right now i am pretty sure other companies owns the rights to use those designs in electronic entertainment media. So while it would be nice to see the unseen i'd say there is a snowballs chance in hell to see even the "re-seen" designs as long as they have other mechs to pull from. And seeing how the clan mechs (thanks to the Mechwarrior games) are way way way more familiar to fans of today then the old BT unseen.they do not need to look in to that venue in a very long time.

I just don't give a **** about the clans they were a gimmick play by fasa anyway instead if continuing the devolipment of the IS story... at the time IS was on the cusp of building new mech factorys and bringing back lostech and new mechs were a possibility... and then fasa dumps the IS for all the clan generic ugly mechs and butchers the IS with the clan invasion and ever since its been all about the clans.. I don't want the clans because that's what you will end up with Clan wars Online

dude get over it, they simple can't put in all those mechs, it takes roughly a month to develop ONE ready to launch. We will still get 1 every month. Some stuff just won't happen so either live with it and have a good MW game or let it be.

haha you are funny.
6 mechs are already designed (Quickdraw is one of them) but are not released yet and they are probably working on clans. Don't expect more than 26 IS mechs altogether this year.

I believe it takes a bit more than a month; I count eight people involved in the work from this fantastic article: The incredibly detailed, beautifully illustrated, insanely intricate birth of a video game Mech.
Dennis de Koning (Art Director)
Alex Iglesias (Concept Artist)
Kristoffer Lyons (Modeler)
Evan Halim (Senior Modeler)
Amit Joshi (Cockpit Modeler/Texturer)
Enrique Barahona Ramos (Senior Animator)
Ben Driedger (Animator)
Gabriel Kessler (Texture Artist)
